O Encontro Humanístico Multidisciplinar e o Congresso Latino-Americano De Estudos Humanísticos Multidisciplinares fazem parte de uma série de atividades pensadas pelo Instituto Conexão Sociocultural em parceria com o Centro Latino- Americano de Estudos em Cultura (CLAEC) e com apoio da Universidade Federal do Pampa – UNIPAMPA campus Jaguarão. O propósito do evento é de agregar, incluir toda e qualquer forma de contribuição cientifica e acadêmica no âmbito das ciências humanas, mais precisamente no campo multidisciplinar, pretendendo ampliar a análise de cada elemento individual e buscar o parecer especifico de sua particularidade. Na multidisciplinaridade (ou pluridisciplinaridade) várias disciplinas analisam um objeto, sem que haja ligações necessárias entre essas abordagens disciplinares. O que acontece é sua aplicação em comparação a diferentes maneiras de abordar um tema, que são orientadas com vista ao conhecimento geral de uma determinada matéria.

Practical Authority
This book looks at what actors in complex policy environments actually do to get new institutions off the ground. The story told has a multiplicity of protagonists, many of whom are normally invisible in political studies, such as the state officials and university professors who struggled to move water reform forward. The book explores the interaction between their efforts to influence the design and passage of new legislation and the hard labor of creating the new water management organizations the laws called for.
Amazonia Without Myths
This report, prepared by the Commission on Development and Environment for Amazonia at the initiative of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty and supported by the Inter-American Development Bank and the United Nations Development Programme, is based on the concept of an Amazonia that exists above and beyond the world of fantasy and myth: an Amazonia of flesh and blood, of human toil, of human history, of human faces and hopes, and future human beings. It is an analysis based not only on the experiences and technologies of today"s world but also, and with greater emphasis, on the wisdom accumulated for centuries by Amazonia itself: standing Amazonia. The Amazon region has the largest area of tropical forest on the planet, and concern for its environmental deterioration extends well beyond the borders of the eight countries that form a part of it. With support from the IDB and UNDP, the Commission on Development and Environment for Amazonia prepared this report that provides data on the region's natural resources, population, health and infrastructure.

Pollution of Water Bodies in Latin America
The indiscriminate use of chemical substances in industrial processes and anthropogenic activities, have resulted in the release of these compounds into aquatic ecosystems through municipal, hospital and industrial discharges, producing various undesired effects on the environment and on species of ecological interest. These compounds, such as metals, pesticides, emerging pollutants and other substances are persistent and susceptible to biotic and/or abiotic transformations, yielding metabolites that can be more toxic than the original compounds. In this book, researchers from diverse environmental science disciplines share their experiences in countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, and critically examine the problem of contaminants in aquatic ecosystems in Latin America, as well as the risks presented by their presence.
Inventing Local Democracy
Abers (political science, Center for Public Policy Research, U. of Brasília, Brazil) provides a close study of innovative city government in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Led by the Workers' Party, the city implemented a participatory budget program in which residents meet in their neighborhoods to determine budget priorities.
