Notes made on various occasions by J.M. Braga of the large quantity of documents stored in the Library. Among these is Father Luis de Gama's original diary transcript which is in Ajuda Library. Among the codices here are two which seem to be the originals of some of the transcripts in the Ajuda Library. The contents of two of these have been listed here. Similar codices are to be found in Axademia de la Historia de Madrid and other libraries. Father F. Shutte has been studying this subject and is convinced that not all of the originals at Macao were left to be destroyed in the fire of 1885, the Jesuits having taken the precaution of sending some, if not all of the originals to Manila from where some found their way to Europe and some were possibly lost in Manila later.
