Mission: Apostolic Nuncio in Prague
In this book, the author gets to the heart of Czechoslovak-Vatican relations, the personalities of the apostolic nuncios, and their further activities. Thanks to Vatican records—in as far as they allow—the author has been able to penetrate the minds, attitudes, and moods of the relevant apostolic nuncios. The richness and diversity of Czech archives has enabled him to understand the difficult relations between the Vatican and the Czechoslovak state, and the Czechoslovak, or more precisely Czech, perception of the Holy See. Finally, the available German and Austrian archives offer an interesting perspective on Czechoslovak-Vatican relations from the outside—from the point of view of non-participating and yet involved parties.

This book offers a presentation of Hus’s theological commitment centered on his understanding of truth. Saints of the Christianization Age of Central Europe (Tenth-Eleventh Century)
This is the first of two volumes containing hagiographical narratives from medieval Central Europe. The lives of the saints in this volume, from the tenth to eleventh centuries, written not much later, are telling witnesses for the process of Christianization of Bohemia, Poland, Hungary and Dalmatia. Most of them became patrons of their region and highly venerated throughout the Middle Ages. The volume presents the first English translation of a legend of each of these saints with the most recent critical edition of the Latin original and prefaces discussing the textual tradition. In an appendix the extensive hagiographical literature of the saints is being critically surveyed.

Monografie Spiritualita diecézního kněze je zamýšlena jako příspěvek k reflexi nad nezaslouženým darem kněžského povolání a jeho prožíváním. Předkládá různé pohledy na způsob prožívání identity kněze, pohledy na spiritualitu kněze, který žije kněžství v diecézi. Některé kapitoly jsou inspirovány Božím slovem, jiné vychází z dokumentů církve, z homilií, katechezí či encyklik a exhortací papeže Františka, další ze samotné žité mnohaleté kněžské praxe, ale také z pohledu pastorální teologie, liturgiky a historie. Adresátem monografie je široká odborná veřejnost, dále věřící křesťané, kněží, formátoři v kněžských seminářích, studenti teologie a ti, kteří se na kněžství připravují nebo o něm uvažují.

Images of Purgatory
On the example of the Czech lands, the book discusses the transformation of the representation of Purgatory in the period between the late Reformation debates at the end of the sixteenth century and partial rejection of Purgatory by the so-called reform Catholicism of the late eighteenth century. The authors, moving permanently in-between history and art history, gradually analyse theology, iconography, practice, and reception of Purgatory. They address the questions of space and time in Purgatory, of emotions and the early modern "affects", treatment of images in religious practice, circulation and diffusion of meditative texts and images, or the problem of revenant souls. The book offers a comprehensive consideration of the development of a fascinating cultural phenomenon in a crucial period of significant changes in people’s thoughts and behaviour.
