My Duty was Clear is primarily the story Thomas Grahamslaw but set against the broader conflict that was the WW2 New Guinea Campaign. At the start of the Pacific War he was a civil servant in the Australian Territory of Papua. Joining the Army as a private soldier he ended the war as a Lieutenant Colonel OBE. His exploits included the administration and operational control of a large number of the tens of thousands known reverently as the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angles. He also undertook operational and deep reconnaissance tasks for both Australian and United States Forces. As part of his administrative duties, he had the powers of the Supreme Court and was required to both impose and officiate at the execution of the Death Penalty.
