The 17th congress of the Association Internationale pour l'Histoire du Verre (AIHV), held in Antwerp, Belgium from 4 to 8 September 2006, brought together scholars from all over the world specialized in the history of glass. Ono examines cross-cultural artistic exchange between the West and Japan from the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth century. Studies of Japonisme have been dominated by searching out relationships of influence between artworks–trying to identify which specific works influenced a particular artist.
