Trauma has become a hotly contested topic in literary studies. But interest in trauma is not new; its roots extend to the Romantic period, when novelists and the first psychiatrists influenced each others' investigations of the »wounded mind«. This book looks back to these early attempts to understand trauma, reading a selection of Romantic novels in dialogue with Romantic and contemporary psychiatry. It then carries that dialogue forward to postmodern fiction, examining further how empirical approaches can deepen our theorizations of trauma. Within an interdisciplinary framework, this study reveals fresh insights into the poetics, politics, and ethics of trauma fiction.
The Late Medieval Cult of the Saints
This is a book that explores the nature of sainthood in a region at the margins of medieval Latin Christendom. Defining the model of sanctity that characterized Transylvania between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries, the study considers how the cults of saints functioned within specific local social and cultural contexts. Analyzing case studies from a multi-ethnic region influenced by both the Latin and Eastern Christian traditions, this book provides a close reading of little-surveyed primary sources and offers a comprehensive understanding of sainthood in Transylvania, enhancing the broader study of medieval saints’ cults and their relationship to social power structures. It will be of great interest to scholars of medieval religion, researchers in medieval studies, and religious studies scholars engaged in comparative research.
Zum Seiteneinstieg neu zugewanderter Jugendlicher ins deutsche Schulsystem
Das Projekt "Formative Prozessevaluation in der Sekundarstufe. Seiteneinsteiger und Sprache im Fach" (kurz: EVA-Sek, Leitung: Bernt Ahrenholz, Udo Ohm, Julia Ricart Brede) begleitete von 2015-2018 Sprachfördermaßnahmen für neu zugewanderte Jugendliche mit Deutsch als Zweitsprache an allgemein- und berufsbildenden Schulen in sechs Bundesländern. Kern des Vorhabens war eine umfassende formative Prozessevaluation dieser Sprachförderarbeit für die Zielgruppe der sog. Seiteneinsteiger*innen.
