Fürstinnen und Konfession
Lange blieb die entscheidende Wirkung von Fürstinnen in den Jahrhunderten nach der Reformation außerhalb des Blinkwinkels der historischen Forschung. Dieses Phänomen ist zum Teil der relativ schwierigen Quellenlage, aber auch frühneuzeitlichen Konventionen geschuldet, die Frauen häufig primär "hinter den Kulissen" agieren ließen. Neuere Forschungen zu prominenten Fürstinnen, wie Herzogin Elisabeth von Braunschweig-Calenberg, Kurfürstin Anna von Sachsen und Herzogin Dorothea Susanna von Sachsen-Weimar, zeigen jedoch eindrucksvoll, wie hochadlige Frauen in unterschiedlichen Situationen mit vielfältigen Mitteln die Religionspolitik und Bekenntnisbildung auf territorialer und überregionaler Ebene prägten.
