Design Thinking: Creativity, Collaboration and Culture
This book presents new ways of facilitating design thinking, through the combination of cognitive design strategies and information technologies. It provides readers with an in-depth understanding of the traditional and digital design processes and activities that are employed in architecture, computational design, communication design and graphic design. The book is divided into three parts: Part I, which focuses on creativity, uses evidence derived from empirical studies to develop an understanding of the way computational environments shape design thinking and may lead to more inventive outcomes. Part II considers the cognitive dimensions of design teams, crowds and collectives. It investigates the ways digital design platforms promote interactive and collective thinking. Lastly, Part III addresses culture, examining the linguistic and cultural context of the globalised design ecosystem. Providing valuable insights into design thinking, this book helps readers engage with their local and global environments. It will appeal to academics, researchers and professionals with an interest in understanding design thinking in the context of creativity, collaboration and culture.

Apesar de: ensaios visuais na quarentena foi produzido no Laboratório de Processos Gráficos, disciplina do Curso de Graduação em Artes Visuais do Instituto de Artes da UFRGS, ministrada por Maristela Salvatori em Ensino Remoto Emergencial (ERE) devido à necessidade de distanciamento social pela pandemia de Covid-19. Sugerido por Carla Borba (doutoranda do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes Visuais, do IA/UFRGS), o desafio de uma produção conjunta foi aceito pelo grupo composto por Aline Vargas, Aline Souza, Gabriela Berghahn, Julia Narvaez, Jully Camargo, Liège Peres, Noelia Long e Silmara Zago, sendo organizado por Alice Porto (também doutoranda do PPGAV/IA/UFRGS) e Maristela Salvatori, com produção gráfica de A. Porto. A publicação traz ensaios visuais sobre as novas rotinas e sentimentos nesse momento crítico, o corpo-casa, a casa-ateliê, resiliências e descobertas.
Tropical Forests
The astounding richness and biodiversity of tropical forests is rapidly dwindling. This has severely altered the vital biogeochemical cycles of carbon, phosphorus, nitrogen etc. and has led to the change in global climate and pristine natural ecosystems. Long-Term Field Studies of Primates
Some primate field studies have been on-going for decades, covering significant portions of individual life cycles or even multiple generations. In this volume, leading field workers report on the history and infrastructure of their projects in Madagascar, Africa, Asia and South America. More importantly, they provide summaries of their long-term research efforts on primate behaviour, ecology and life history, highlighting insights that were only possible because of the long-term nature of the study. The chapters of this volume collectively outline the many scientific reasons for studying primate behaviour, ecology and demography over multiple generations. This kind of research is typically necessitated by the relatively slow life histories of primates. Moreover, a complete understanding of social organization and behaviour, factors often influenced by rare but important events, requires long-term data collection. Finally, long-term field projects are also becoming increasingly important foci of local conservation activities.

Advances in Conceptual Modeling - Challenging Perspectives
This book constitutes the refereed joint proceedings of eight international workshops held in conjunction with the 28th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER 2009, in Gramado, Brazil, in November 2009.
