O custo da Justiça no Brasil e a crise dos números
A ampliação do acesso à justiça apresentou o efeito indesejado do excessivo número de ações, causando dificuldade para o Judiciário em dar respostas mais céleres e eficientes aos litígios. Por essa razão, o Estado desenvolve política de resolução de conflitos buscando combater a cultura da sentença através do estímulo ao uso das ferramentas de solução de controvérsias adequadas para cada situação apresentada. Por outro lado, o impulso ocorrido para o uso dos métodos consensuais dentro do aparato judicial não está sendo suficientemente capaz de combater o problema da litigiosidade, do gigantismo estrutural e do alto custo de manutenção. Conclui-se que a exigência de direcionamento de ações para uma tentativa de deliberação consensual é válida no ordenamento jurídico. Por isso, este livro propõe que, antes do ajuizamento de demandas envolvendo direitos disponíveis, haja a prévia tentativa de autocomposição extrajudicial, de modo que o acesso à justiça permaneça garantido e fique diferido no tempo.

O livro apresenta uma referência fácil e ágil à interpretação da Lei de Arbitragem com farto referencial de julgados dos Tribunais Superiores brasileiros, STF e STJ. Há a indicação do texto legal e as interpretações do autor sobre os pontos mais polêmicos e discutidos do texto legal. The Atlantic Forest
The Atlantic Forest is one of the 36 hotspots for biodiversity conservation worldwide. It is a unique, large biome (more than 3000 km in latitude; 2500 in longitude), marked by high biodiversity, high degree of endemic species and, at the same time, extremely threatened. Approximately 70% of the Brazilian population lives in the area of this biome, which makes the conflict between biodiversity conservation and the sustainability of the human population a relevant issue. This book aims to cover: 1) the historical characterization and geographic variation of the biome; 2) the distribution of the diversity of some relevant taxa; 3) the main threats to biodiversity, and 4) possible opportunities to ensure the biodiversity conservation, and the economic and social sustainability. Also, it is hoped that this book can be useful for those involved in the development of public policies aimed at the conservation of this important global biome.
