C.J. Edmonds published articles in orientalist journals and co-authored with Taufiq Wahby A Kurdish-English dictionary (Oxford, 1966). He published his memoirs of Iraq, Kurds, Turks, and Arabs : politics, travel and research in North-Eastern Iraq, 1919-1925 (London - New York, 1957), but his Persian memoirs remained unpublished. It tells how, after studying oriental languages in Cambridge, he became Consular Officer in Bushire, participated in British campaigns in Mesopotamia during First World War. As a Political Officer in Luristan Edmonds was in charge of the oil fields’ security and was sent to Northern Persia after the war, a direct witness of the Jangal upheaval and the 1921 coup d’Etat.

Beyond ISIS: History and Future of Religious Minorities in Iraq
This book shares papers from a conference taking a deeper look at the victims of ISIS and beyond that all religious minorities of Iraq. This is the first book that considers all the religious minorities that existed in modern Iraq, including both historic communities and new groups that recently came with labour migration, especially to the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan. The book resulted from a conference in 2018 organized exactly at the site of the Simele Massacre in 1933. The campus of the American University of Kurdistan is located on the site of the first big massacre against a religious minority in Iraq. The conference entitled ‘Beyond ISIS: Minorities and Religious Diversity in Iraq and the Future of Êzîdî, Christians, Shabak, Yarsan, Mandeans and other Religious Minorities in the Middle East’ brought together Iraqi and international scholars, activists, and religious and community representatives. This book contains papers presented at the conference that included contributions on Iraq’s religious diversity and the historical and contemporary consequences of genocide and persecution on the religious minorities of Iraq.

Ideological Roots of the Conflict between Pro-Kurdish and Pro-Islamic Parties in Turkey
The current agenda of international politics is full of headline-grabbing conflicts. This book focuses on one such conflict, namely the Kurdish question in Turkey, with recent peace negotiations between Turkey and the PKK having apparently failed. The pro-Islamic ruling party of Turkey (the AK Party) and the ideologically leftist pro-Kurdish parties are the key determinants of this conflict. Their historical development since the inception of modern Turkey is discussed here to demonstrate the similarities and differences between these oppositional social and political groups. In this sense, the book claims that ideological rigidity is one of the core factors shaping the relationship between these parties. As such, the book provides a detailed investigation of the ideological perspectives of the key actors in the conflict in order to gain a better understanding of why the last initiative ended negatively.
