The May 1927 issue of True Detective magazine dealt with the shooting of Tommy Evans and subsequent investigation of the case in the Old 23rd District of Henry County, Tennessee. Anthony Evans (b.ca. 1620) immigrated from Wales to Surry County, Virginia before 1657, and married widow Dorothy (Sheppard) Meadows Bartley in 1669, and died after 1671. Descendants lived in Virginia and elsewhere.
