In recent years, many technologies for gait and posture assessments have emerged. Wearable sensors, active and passive in-house monitors, and many combinations thereof all promise to provide accurate measures of physical activity, gait, and posture parameters. Motivated by market projections for wearable technologies and driven by recent technological innovations in wearable sensors (MEMs, electronic textiles, wireless communications, etc.), wearable health/performance research is growing rapidly and has the potential to transform future healthcare from disease treatment to disease prevention. The objective of this Special Issue is to address and disseminate the latest gait, posture, and activity monitoring systems as well as various mathematical models/methods that characterize mobility functions. This Special Issue focuses on wearable monitoring systems and physical sensors, and its mathematical models can be utilized in varied environments under varied conditions to monitor health and performance
Sports performance is primarily associated with elite sport, however, recreational athletes are increasingly attempting to emulate elite athletes. Performance optimization is distinctly multidisciplinary. Optimized training concepts and the use of state-of-the-art technologies are crucial for improving performance. However, sports performance enhancement is in constant conflict with the protection of athletes’ health. Notwithstanding the known positive effects of physical activity on health, the prevention and management of sports injuries remain major challenges to be addressed. Accordingly, this Special Issue on "Sports Performance and Health" consists of 17 original research papers, one...

Chronic pain is a complex and multifaceted condition affecting millions worldwide. This type of pain persists for more than three months and can be debilitating and profoundly affect an individual's quality of life. The understanding of the pathophysiology of chronic pain has advanced considerably in recent decades, providing a solid basis for the development of new therapies and therapeutic approaches. Neuroscience has played a key role in these advances, providing a deeper understanding of how the brain and central nervous system process pain, serving as a nexus for multiple disciplines to integrate in addressing this pathology. This Research Topic aims to address the most recent advances in the treatment of chronic pain, both primary and secondary (excluding low back pain, see footnote) by highlighting innovative therapies, advances in neuroscience, long-term pain management, and recent research in the field. With this focus, we hope to shed light on new strategies that could improve the lives of those suffering from chronic pain.
We are delighted to present the “Horizons in Systems Neuroscience” article collection. This collection showcases high-impact, authoritative, and reader-friendly review articles covering the most topical research at the forefront of systems neuroscience. All contributing authors were individually nominated by the Chief Editors of the Journal in recognition of their prominence and influence in their respective fields. The cutting-edge work presented in this article collection highlights the diversity of research performed across the entire breadth of the systems neuroscience field and reflects on the latest advances in the theory, experiment, and methodology with applications to compelling problems in academic and translational research.
