This volume on pure and applied differential geometry, includes topics on submanifold theory, affine differential geometry and applications of geometry in engineering sciences. The conference was dedicated to the 70th birthday of Prof Katsumi Nomizu. Papers on the scientific work and life of Katsumi Nomizu are also included.
The world's largest country is now a constant topic of fascination or fear in the West, producing an ever increasing literature of scholarship, reportage and tourism. In this volume, the differing voices and views of leading Chinese thinkers can for the first time be heard in English translation, debating the future of their society and its place in the world. One China, Many Paths offers a vibrant panorama of the contemporary intellectual scene in the People's Republic. Its contributors include economists and historians, philosophers and sociologists, writers and literary critics, across the generations. Among the topics debated in these pages are the future of China's growth model; the dee...
This book is a gentle introduction to dominance-based query processing techniques and their applications. The book aims to present fundamental as well as some advanced issues in the area in a precise, but easy-to-follow, manner. Dominance is an intuitive concept that can be used in many different ways in diverse application domains. The concept of dominance is based on the values of the attributes of each object. An object dominates another object if is better than . This goodness criterion may differ from one user to another. However, all decisions boil down to the minimization or maximization of attribute values. In this book, we will explore algorithms and applications related to dominance-based query processing. The concept of dominance has a long history in finance and multi-criteria optimization. However, the introduction of the concept to the database community in 2001 inspired many researchers to contribute to the area. Therefore, many algorithmic techniques have been proposed for the efficient processing of dominance-based queries, such as skyline queries, -dominant queries, and top- dominating queries, just to name a few.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 18th International Conference on Cryptology and Network Security, CANS 2019, held in Fuzhou, China, in October 2019. The 21 full papers and 8 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 55 submissions. The papers focus on topics such as homomorphic encryption; SIKE and Hash; lattice and post-quantum cryptography; searchable encryption; blockchains, cloud security; secret sharing and interval test, LWE; encryption, data aggregation, and revocation; and signature, ML, payment, and factorization.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 4th Workshop on Combinatorial and Algorithmic Aspects of Networking, CAAN 2007, held in Halifax, Canada, in August 2007, co-located with the 10th Workshop on Algorithms and Data Structures, WADS 2007. The main focus is on strategies for searching in networks, and for cleaning networks of unwanted intruders, on different routing strategies, and on scheduling and load balancing.
The three-volume set LNCS 12681-12683 constitutes the proceedings of the 26th International Conference on Database Systems for Advanced Applications, DASFAA 2021, held in Taipei, Taiwan, in April 2021. The total of 156 papers presented in this three-volume set was carefully reviewed and selected from 490 submissions. The topic areas for the selected papers include information retrieval, search and recommendation techniques; RDF, knowledge graphs, semantic web, and knowledge management; and spatial, temporal, sequence, and streaming data management, while the dominant keywords are network, recommendation, graph, learning, and model. These topic areas and keywords shed the light on the direction where the research in DASFAA is moving towards. Due to the Corona pandemic this event was held virtually.
This two volume set LNCS 9049 and LNCS 9050 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Database Systems for Advanced Applications, DASFAA 2015, held in Hanoi, Vietnam, in April 2015. The 63 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 287 submissions. The papers cover the following topics: data mining; data streams and time series; database storage and index; spatio-temporal data; modern computing platform; social networks; information integration and data quality; information retrieval and summarization; security and privacy; outlier and imbalanced data analysis; probabilistic and uncertain data; query processing.
Edited in collaboration with the Grassmann Research Group, this book contains many important articles delivered at the ICM 2014 Satellite Conference and the 18th International Workshop on Real and Complex Submanifolds, which was held at the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Daejeon, Republic of Korea, August 10–12, 2014. The book covers various aspects of differential geometry focused on submanifolds, symmetric spaces, Riemannian and Lorentzian manifolds, and Kähler and Grassmann manifolds.
