Grizzly

In a cricket career spanning nearly 30 years, Chris Adams has enjoyed some unforgettable moments. He played for England, enduring a brutal Test debut against South Africa in 1999, and was the greatest captain in the history of Sussex, turning them from perennial underachievers into the most successful county of the 2000s. Within two years of becoming a coach, he had made Surrey trophy winners again. There have been some difficult times, too. The internecine warfare at his first county, Derbyshire, which led to his departure; frustrating experiences with the England hierarchy; and the struggle to control the work-hard-play-hard culture in the Surrey dressing room, which ultimately ended in tragedy. Throughout his life in cricket 'Grizzly' has always tried to remain true to his convictions. Now, as he contemplates his next challenges in the game, Adams fronts up again and tells his own remarkable story of a life in cricket.

THE FBI ARREST 12 RUSSIAN SPIES...Newspaper headlines, radio and television networks announced the startling news. A dozen or more undocumented Russian agents were caught operating undercover within the United States. This event might well have occurred back during the last Millennia, and did, but this is 2010; the Cold War has been over for almost twenty years, or has it? Were we surprised? After all, the President of the United States had within the previous week of the arrests, hosted the President of Russia to an Official State Visit. As this book enters the final publication phase, I could not have created a more perfect, although factually unsettling, introduction to the exciting and f...

The author introduces this, perhaps surpringly titled novel, with a treatise on the current events taking place at the heart of the world where this and his previous spy novels have taken place. He provides a brief summary on the background of the current president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the possible coincidences with his lead character in this and previous tales. He then transitions into the complex lives and journeys of his main character, Colonel Alexandr "Sasha" Katsanov, the loyal and dedicated Soviet GRU espionage agent, who is challenged once again when KGB operatives attempt to kill him. Regrettably, his assailants tragically and brutally murder his wife, Katiya. Following the botched event, he is sent to the United States as an attache and assigned to the Soviet Embassy for protection. Sasha quickly discovers that espionage is a two-edged sword, Soviet agents and Americans alike, and fall prey to greed and ideological motivations to sell-out their governments.

"While much has been written about the Cold War from the political, diplomatic and overall military perspective, very little has been written about the American warriors who fought and won the war. In Deterrence, Adams tells the story of the U.S. leaders, commanders, enlisted men of the U.S. military strategic nuclear forces that successfully defeated the Soviet war machine. This book goes a long way toward telling how and why the United States prevailed in the Cold War." - Keith D. McFarland, PhD, President Emeritus, Texas A&M University Commerce "In this notable work, Chris Adams has not only captured the essence of national security through vigilant deterrence, but clearly recognizes and ...

Out of Darkness delves into the continuous history of the turbulence within Russian leadership which has more recently resulted into the unprovoked attack and destruction of Ukraine, once a part of the Soviet Union, and has been independent since the end of the Cold War. In describing the plight of Russia, Chris Adams, once again, relies upon his extensive professional background and experiences in developing this story. He also features his reliable fictional character, Sasha Katsanov, a highly treained and skilled Soviet trained spy. The son of a former Soviet general, Sasha is greatly influenced by his sceptical mother. The story witnesses development of Sasha's own self-doubts, vision an...

The Grail Guitar

In The Grail Guitar: The Search for Jimi Hendrix’s Purple Haze Telecaster, Chris Adams takes readers on a fascinating mystery tour to determine whether a Fender Telecaster bought secondhand in a London music store in 1973 was the one used by Jimi Hendrix to record “Purple Haze” in January 1967. The only clues are its left-handed tuners and the salesman’s chance remark that the guitar was brought into the shop by a Hendrix roadie. But these are enough to set the author off on this intriguing journey into Hendrix history. With firsthand details from model Linda Keith, who discovered Hendrix in New York, Adams recounts how the rising star left for London with a white Stratocaster belong...
