Measuring competencies acquired over the course of higher education is an area of research that largely has been neglected. This deficit can be attributed to the complexity of academic competencies since the variety of institutions, programs, occupational fields and job requirements render it difficult to define and even harder to measure outcomes. Thus, assessing the preconditions for and effects of competency development is a challenge methodologically. In this book, a comprehensive review of the international state of research on modeling and measuring competencies in higher education across several academic disciplines is presented, along with an evaluation of the field’s strengths and...
This book offers a comprehensive overview of current, innovative approaches to assessing generic and domain-specific learning outcomes in higher education at both national and international levels. It discusses the most significant initiatives over the past decade to develop objective, valid, and reliable assessment tools and presents state-of-the-art procedures to adapt and validate them for use in other countries. The authors highlight key conceptual and methodological challenges connected with intra-national and cross-national assessment of learning outcomes in higher education; introduce novel approaches to improving assessment, evaluation, testing, and measurement practices; and offer exemplary implementation frameworks. Further, they examine the results of and lessons learned from various recent, world-renowned research programs and feasibility studies, and present results from their own studies to provide new insights into how to draw valid conclusions about learning outcomes achieved in various contexts.
This book continues the tradition of its predecessors “Automation, Communication and Cybernetics in Science and Engineering 2009/2010 and 2011/2012” and includes a representative selection of scientific publications from researchers at the institute cluster IMA/ZLW & IfU. IMA - Institute of Information Management in Mechanical Engineering ZLW - Center for Learning and Knowledge Management IfU - Associated Institute for Management Cybernetics e.V. Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, RWTH Aachen University The book presents a range of innovative fields of application, including: cognitive systems, cyber-physical production systems, robotics, automation technology, machine learning, natural ...
The four-volume proceedings LNCS 13090, 13091, 13092, and 13093 constitutes the proceedings of the 27th International Conference on the Theory and Application of Cryptology and Information Security, ASIACRYPT 2021, which was held during December 6-10, 2021. The conference was planned to take place in Singapore, but changed to an online format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The total of 95 full papers presented in these proceedings was carefully reviewed and selected from 341 submissions. The papers were organized in topical sections as follows: Part I: Best paper awards; public-key cryptanalysis; symmetric key cryptanalysis; quantum security; Part II: physical attacks, leakage and countermeasures; multiparty computation; enhanced public-key encryption and time-lock puzzles; real-world protocols; Part III: NIZK and SNARKs; theory; symmetric-key constructions; homomorphic encryption and encrypted search; Part IV: Lattice cryptanalysis; post-quantum cryptography; advanced encryption and signatures; zero-knowledge proofs, threshold and multi-signatures; authenticated key exchange.
This book presents a collection of high-quality research works and professional perspectives arising from the call for papers of the Privacy Symposium 2022; an international conference aimed towards the promotion of international dialogue, cooperation and knowledge sharing on data protection regulations, compliance and emerging technologies. Gathering legal and technology expertise, this publication provides cutting-edge perspectives on the convergence of international data protection regulations, as well as data protection compliance of emerging technologies, such as: Artificial Intelligence, e-health, blockchain, edge computing, Internet of things, V2X and Smart Grids. It includes selected...
This book presents the proceedings of the Privacy Symposium 2023. the book features a collection of high-quality research works and professional perspectives on personal data protection and emerging technologies. Gathering legal and technology expertise, it provides cutting-edge perspective on international data protection regulations convergence, as well as data protection compliance of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, e-health, blockchain, edge computing, Internet of Things, V2X and smart grid. Papers encompass various topics, including international law and comparative law in data protection and compliance, cross-border data transfer, emerging technologies and data protection compliance, data protection by design, technology for compliance and data protection, data protection good practices across industries and verticals, cybersecurity and data protection, assessment and certification of data protection compliance, and data subject rights implementation.
Evidence-Based CBT for Anxiety and Depression in Children and Adolescents “This should be on the bookshelf of everyone treating anxious and depressed children and adolescents. A cornucopia of theory and clinical good sense alike. I will be making sure that my trainees read it cover to cover.” Dr Samantha Cartwright-Hatton, Senior Clinical Research Fellow in Psychology, University of Sussex This is the first book to offer an explicitly competencies-based approach to the cognitive behavioral treatment of anxiety and depression in children and adolescents. Within it, an outstanding and influential set of experts in the field describe a comprehensive model of therapist competencies required ...
