Rune Guneriussen: Lights Go Out
Poetic light sculptures installed and photographed against natural backdrops Norwegian artist Rune Guneriussen (born 1977) takes us on a journey through forests and wetlands, to bodies of water and stretches of coast, photographing self-constructed light objects that he has arranged across the varying landscapes, evoking high-rise buildings, route markers or mythical creatures.

Die deutsche Genremalerei im 17. Jahrhundert
Die Arbeit stellt das erste Übersichts- und Nachschlagewerk zur deutschen Genremalerei im 17. Jahrhundert dar. In einem chronologisch aufgebauten Textteil werden mehr als sechzig in Deutschland tätige Malerpersönlichkeiten vorgestellt und bearbeitet, darunter Hans von Aachen, Johann Heinrich Schönfeld, Georg Philipp Rugendas, Roelant Savery und Johann Liss. Die Gemälde sind in einem Katalogteil ausführlich dokumentiert. Die Verfasserin ist Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin im Museum Ludwig in Koblenz.

Rembrandt präsentiert sich in dieser Studie als ein Künstler, dem neben Kunsthistorikern auch Theologen, Theater- und Sozialwissenschaftler sowie Niederlandisten interessante neue Aspekte abgewinnen können. Close Reading puts the artwork in the center of concentrated art-historical interpretations programmatically. Seventy-two international authors each analyze one work of architecture, sculpture, painting, drawing, or graphic work, from Albrecht Dürer and Matthias Grünewald, to Titian, Artemisia Gentileschi, Michelangelo, and Nicolas Poussin, Francesco Borromini, and Fischer von Erlach, to Oskar Kokoschka and Shirin Neshat. They pursue various methodological approaches, address the creation context or questions regarding dating and attribution, the history of a collection, provenance, and restoration, or dedicate themselves to relationships between picture and text as well as to iconographic, iconological, and image-theory aspects.

Due to the early photographic documentation of its collections, the Aachen Museum is able to provide in this volume large-format reproductions of works of art lost since 1932.
