Die InhaltsverzeichnisEinführung macht Studierende mit verschiedenen Textbeschreibungsmodellen und Problemen der Textlinguistik vertraut und befähigt zur Analyse analoger und digitaler Textsorten in verschiedenen Kommunikationsbereichen. Auf der Basis bestehender Modelle wird als neuer Ansatz ein kommunikativ-kognitives textlinguistisches und textgrammatisches Beschreibungsmodell entwickelt. Es ermöglicht eine realistische Beschreibung der Grammatik des Deutschen in Textsorten, die durch unterschiedliche Kommunikationsformen geprägt sind. Strukturelle Gegebenheiten der natürlichen gesprochenen Sprache sind dabei expliziter Bestandteil einer solchen Grammatik. Das Buch enthält mehrere Übungsteile, mit denen Studierende die gewonnenen Einsichten an realen Texten/Textsorten nachvollziehen und überprüfen können.

Die Studierenden werden befähigt, für jegliche Untersuchung von Textsorten einen systemtheoretischen Ansatz zu finden, der ihnen hilft zu problematisieren und zu systematisieren. Dieser Ansatz kann dort produktiv eingesetzt werden, wo es um Zusammenhänge von Gesellschaft, Kommunikation und Sprache geht.
