This volume contains the proceedings of the 2017 Georgia International Topology Conference, held from May 22–June 2, 2017, at the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia. The papers contained in this volume cover topics ranging from symplectic topology to classical knot theory to topology of 3- and 4-dimensional manifolds to geometric group theory. Several papers focus on open problems, while other papers present new and insightful proofs of classical results. Taken as a whole, this volume captures the spirit of the conference, both in terms of public lectures and informal conversations, and presents a sampling of some of the great new ideas generated in topology over the preceding eight years.
This volume contains lectures from the Graduate Summer School “Quantum Field Theory and Manifold Invariants” held at Park City Mathematics Institute 2019. The lectures span topics in topology, global analysis, and physics, and they range from introductory to cutting edge. Topics treated include mathematical gauge theory (anti-self-dual equations, Seiberg-Witten equations, Higgs bundles), classical and categorified knot invariants (Khovanov homology, Heegaard Floer homology), instanton Floer homology, invertible topological field theory, BPS states and spectral networks. Bordered Floer homology assigns invariants to 3-manifolds with boundary, such that the Heegaard Floer homology of a closed 3-manifold, split into two pieces, can be recovered as a tensor product of the bordered invariants of the pieces. The authors construct cornered Floer homology invariants of 3-manifolds with codimension-2 corners and prove that the bordered Floer homology of a 3-manifold with boundary, split into two pieces with corners, can be recovered as a tensor product of the cornered invariants of the pieces.

This field has experienced significant and exciting growth in the past few decades, and this volume provides an accessible introduction into many active research problems in this area. In this work the authors develop a decomposition theory for subgroups of Out(Fn) which generalizes the decomposition theory for individual elements of Out(Fn) found in the work of Bestvina, Feighn, and Handel, and which is analogous to the decomposition theory for subgroups of mapping class groups found in the work of Ivanov.
The book is addressed to both those who have studied and love geometry, as well as to those who discover it now, through study and training, in order to obtain special results in school competitions. In this regard, we have sought to prove some properties and theorems in several ways: synthetic, vectorial, analytical.
This volume contains the proceedings of the summer school and research conference “Frontiers in Geometry and Topology”, celebrating the sixtieth birthday of Tomasz Mrowka, which was held from August 1–12, 2022, at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP). The summer school featured ten lecturers and the research conference featured twenty-three speakers covering a range of topics. A common thread, reflecting Mrowka's own work, was the rich interplay among the fields of analysis, geometry, and topology. Articles in this volume cover topics including knot theory; the topology of three and four-dimensional manifolds; instanton, monopole, and Heegaard Floer homologies; Khovanov homology; and pseudoholomorphic curve theory.
The authors study small disturbances to the periodic, plane Couette flow in the 3D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations at high Reynolds number Re. They prove that for sufficiently regular initial data of size $epsilon leq c_0mathbf {Re}^-1$ for some universal $c_0 > 0$, the solution is global, remains within $O(c_0)$ of the Couette flow in $L^2$, and returns to the Couette flow as $t rightarrow infty $. For times $t gtrsim mathbf {Re}^1/3$, the streamwise dependence is damped by a mixing-enhanced dissipation effect and the solution is rapidly attracted to the class of ``2.5 dimensional'' streamwise-independent solutions referred to as streaks.
