O tema do III Ateliê voltou-se à relação mais geral entre literatura, história e ciências sociais. O interesse específico incidiu na narrativa de textos literários e na historiografia das práticas de leitura, tal como desenvolvida nas últimas décadas por sociólogos, antropólogos e historiadores. Entre as formas de abordagem, enfatizaram-se os métodos de tratamento de arquivos literários, não apenas como fonte, mas também como condição de constructo epistêmico e de artefato histórico. Com base neles, interrogou-se a respeito da emergência da figura do autor na história moderna europeia e postulou-se a interlocução entre escritores por meio de cartas, de impressos e toda sorte de manuscritos privados.
