O livro mostra Leonel Brizola pelo olhar de historiadores renomados. A razão indignada reúne 10 textos de historiadores sobre Leonel Brizola e aborda duas fases de sua trajetória política. A primeira, compreendida entre 1961 e 1964, se refere ao momento em que Brizola é elevado à prestigiosa posição de liderança das esquerdas, como governador do Rio Grande do Sul e deputado federal. A outra se delineia a partir do início dos anos 1980, quando Brizola refunda o projeto trabalhista e assume o governo do Rio de Janeiro ‒ tendo que lidar com críticas, tanto das esquerdas revolucionárias como de setores conservadores.
