The Diver

Drawing on the themes of cruelty, imperialism and betrayal, Hideki Noda and Colin Teevan's new play, The Diver, ingeniously links the ancient Japanese Tales of Genji with a Noh theatre play and a contemporary murder. In a production at Soho Theatre award-winning actress Kathryn Hunter rejoined legendary Japanese director Hideki Noda and the team behind Soho/Tokyo hit play The Bee for this physical and inventive collaboration. The Diver opened at the Soho Theatre in June 2008.

Some colleges will do anything to improve their national ranking. That can be bad for their students—and for higher education. Since U.S. News & World Report first published a college ranking in 1983, the rankings industry has become a self-appointed judge, declaring winners and losers among America's colleges and universities. In this revealing account, Colin Diver shows how popular rankings have induced college applicants to focus solely on pedigree and prestige, while tempting educators to sacrifice academic integrity for short-term competitive advantage. By forcing colleges into standardized "best-college" hierarchies, he argues, rankings have threatened the institutional diversity, in...

Operation Diver

Operation Diver

Operation Diver' is the story of a battle: its action, people, landscapes, and remains. The battle was Anti-Aircraft Command's attempt to defeat the V1 flying-bomb, the first of Nazi Germany's 'retribution' weapons, whose attacks dominated the home front in the final year of the Second World War. Beginning in the week of D-Day, the flying bomb battle lasted for nine months. In that time the men and women of AA Command became a massed, mobile army, shifting a vast carpet of guns to meet the V1's changing lines of attack. Beginning in Kent and Sussex, their journey took in the Thames Estuary, East Anglia and eventually the Yorkshire coast. Along with the RAF's fighter aircraft and the larger air defence system, their mission was to prevent a single flying bomb from reaching London, or any other British city. The battle was won; but not before many technical and human obstacles were overcome.

When Spirit Calls

“An extraordinary exploration into the world of healing ministries, spiritual guides, and esoteric experiences. Those who remain enclosed in a world of ‘hard facts’ will be challenged, for sure, but those who are open to other dimensions, other worlds within this one, have a wide-eyed journey ahead.” -- Rev. Samuel T. Lloyd III, Rector, Trinity Church, Boston “Joan Diver is a highly respected leader and accomplished foundation executive who left an inspiring legacy of social change. Her grounding in work for justice, followed by her fall into faith and mystery is captured in this compelling, provocative and generous telling of her journey. I found myself turning pages as if reading...

With this new edition, Administrative Law: Cases and Materials continues to present the complex substance of administrative law in a format that is both intellectually satisfying and easily understandable. Prior to publication the book was used at the University of Minnesota where the students found administrative law to be both an exciting and rewarding endeavor. In addition to carefully examining current law, students will become familiar with the relevant historical perspectives so necessary to appreciate the dynamics of today's law. They will become familiar with the so-called progressive movement and its regulatory offspring, the independent agency, with the New Deal regulatory agenda, ...
