The Abusive School Principal
Since the 1990s there has been increased public interest, debate and research on workplace bullying. Little research has, however, been done on the abuse of educators or on the bullies per se. The aim of this paper is to expand the body of knowledge on workplace bullying by shedding light on the character of a bullying school principal. In 2008 I conducted in-depth interviews with educators who were the victims of bullying. A content analysis of the verbatim responses of three educators who worked at the same school revealed that their bully was an envious, destructive narcissistic, evil and unsupportive school principal, who relentlessly victimised them for nearly two decades. A scholarly inquiry into disciplinary practices in educational institutions

This book scrutinises religion in education in ten countries. It reveals much about the tension between religion and education in secular countries, and the blending between religion and education in religious countries, such as Iran and Malaysia, as well as secular countries such as the Netherlands. Notwithstanding legislation and individual schools' codes of conduct prohibiting bullying, bullying is an escalating problem in South African schools. It seems as if existing anti-bullying policies, programmes and intervention strategies are failing to address the scourge. The Status of Teaching as a Profession in South Africa
Using ten universally accepted criteria for a profession and following the Structural-Functional Model of professionalism, this study evaluates the status of teaching as a profession in South Africa. The study found that policies and structures have been put in place since the beginning of the new millennium to enhance the professional status of teachers.
