Advances in Information and Communication Technology
This book contains four keynote abstracts and 83 best peer-reviewed papers selected from the 179 submissions at the 2nd International Conference on Advances in ICT (ICTA 2023), which share research results and practical applications in ICT research and education. Technological changes and digital transformation that have taken place over the past decade have had significant impacts on all economic and social sectors. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in general and artificial intelligence (AI) in particular have driven socio-economic growth. The topics cover all ICT-related areas and their contributions to socio-economic development, focusing on the most advanced technologies, such as AI. Immunosensors
Immunosensors are widely used and are particularly important for fast diagnosis of diseases in remote environments as well as point-of-care devices. In this book, expert scientists are covering a selection of high quality representative examples from the past five years explaining how this area has developed. It is a compilation of recent advances in several areas of immunosensors for multiple target analysis using laboratory based or point-of-care set-up, for example graphene-, ISFET- and nanostructure-based immunosensors, electrochemical magneto immunosensors and nanoimprinted immunosensors. Filling a gap in the literature, it showcases the multidisciplinary, innovative developments in this highly important area and provides pointers towards commercialisation. The New Mars
The author's first book, The 50th Pennsylvania's Civil War Odyssey, addressed the wartime journey of a regiment that fought in six Southern states. In this, his second Civil War tale, you follow the hardships faced by a regiment that fought in only two. It fought in McClellan's Virginia Peninsula Campaign and then, in its second major fight at Plymouth, NC in April 1864, the entire Union garrison was captured by General Hoke's Confederate forces. This book also focuses on a lucky lieutenant from Bedford, Pennsylvania, who escaped from rebel captivity with two companions and, with help from field slaves and Unionists in the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, walked 250 miles in 42 days to Union lines. His regiment, the 101st Pennsylvania, was not so fortunate. Captured in April of 1864 in its entirety at Plymouth, NC, nearly half of its enlisted men perished in Confederate POW camps.
Advances in Data Management
Data Management is the process of planning, coordinating and controlling data resources. More often, applications need to store and search a large amount of data. Managing Data has been continuously challenged by demands from various areas and applications and has evolved in parallel with advances in hardware and computing techniques. This volume focuses on its recent advances and it is composed of five parts and a total of eighteen chapters. The first part of the book contains five contributions in the area of information retrieval and Web intelligence: a novel approach to solving index selection problem, integrated retrieval from Web of documents and data, bipolarity in database querying, deriving data summarization through ontologies, and granular computing for Web intelligence. The second part of the book contains four contributions in knowledge discovery area. Its third part contains three contributions in information integration and data security area. The remaining two parts of the book contain six contributions in the area of intelligent agents and applications of data management in medical domain.
