Designing and Delivering Training

David Simmonds' book focuses on the blend between theory and practice. It will not be (merely) a ⬠̃how-toâ¬" set of checklists for operational practitioners, nor (just) an academic review of the literature for strategic managers. Instead, each chapter will specifically combine the relevant thinking with appropriate real-life evidence, through the use of pedagogical features.

Keeping Faith in Practice is an addition to SCM's growing Practical and Pastoral Theology list. Most books in this field are written by authors from various Protestant backgrounds. Catholic teachers in this field are frequently asked by colleagues for suggestions of Catholic resources, and find themselves at a loss. The central subject of this book is an exploration of how theology engages with the dimension of practice in the life of the Church and contemporary society and culture. The book covers the main focal points of a Catholic view of pastoral/practical theology - its foundations and different fields.

"Exploring Human Resource Management" leads students through the many theories, debates and philosophies of people management. Introducing fundamental concepts in a clear, analytical and accessible style, this book guides the reader through aspects of HRM relating to strategy, resourcing, reward, relations and development. A complete resource for students, the book covers the key topics of a typical Human Resource Management syllabus, whilst also extending its scope to take in contemporary debates and issues surrounding work-life balance, ethics, gender and diversity in the workplace, useful for student and practitioner alike.

Residential Location Choice

The effective planning of residential location choices is one of the great challenges of contemporary societies and requires forecasting capabilities and the consideration of complex interdependencies which can only be handled by complex computer models. This book presents a range of approaches used to model residential locations within the context of developing land-use and transport models. These approaches illustrate the range of choices that modellers have to make in order to represent residential choice behaviour. The models presented in this book represent the state-of-the-art and are valuable both as key building blocks for general urban models, and as representative examples of complexity science.

Yorkshire's Multiple Killers

Convicted killers seldom kill again - or do they? Recent research has shown that since 1965 about 120 persons convicted of murder or manslaughter in England and Wales have killed again. in a longer term context, True Crime writer Charles Rickell has uncovered 24 cases with Yorkshire associations, from the Great War to 2005/06. Two sensational examples relate to convicted individuals who even killed for a third time: William Burkitt in Hull (1915, 1924 and 1939) and Anthony O'Rourke in Pickering (1949 & 1951) and Slough (1962). Convicted killers also killed again whilst in prison: Peter Dunford (Wakefield, 1964); Douglas Wakefield (Parkhurst, 1981); John Paton (Wakefield, 1976 and Parkhurst, 1981) and Robert Mawdsley (Broadmoor, 1977 and Wakefield, 1978). the sensational Magee case is also included. This convicted IRA killer (now released again) fatally shot a special constable at Tadcaster in 1992.

***WINNER OF THE COMEDY WOMEN IN PRINT PRIZE 2020*** 'Simmonds is a copper-bottomed genius... she is as brilliant a writer as Britain has' Jenny Colgan, Mail Online Cassandra Darke is an art dealer, mean, selfish, solitary by nature, living in Chelsea in a house worth £7 million. She has become a social pariah, but doesn't much care. Between one Christmas and the next, she has sullied the reputation of a West End gallery and has acquired a conviction for fraud, a suspended sentence and a bank balance drained by lawsuits. On the scale of villainy, fraud seems to Cassandra a rather paltry offence - her own crime involving 'no violence, no weapon, no dead body'. But in Cassandra's basement, her young ex-lodger, Nicki, has left a surprise, something which implies at least violence and probably a body . . . Something which forces Cassandra out of her rich enclave and onto the streets. Not those local streets paved with gold and lit with festive glitter, but grimmer, darker places, where she must make the choice between self-sacrifice and running for her life.
