The Kitchen Family
James Kitchen (ca.1749-1832) was born in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, possibly the son of James Kitchen and Martha Mathews. He served in the Revolutionary War, and married Jane Patterson in 1780 at Fort Savannah, Greenbrier County, Virginia (later West Virginia). In 1799 they moved to Russell County, Virginia, and about 1817 to Greenup (later Lawrence, now Carter) County, Kentucky. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Maryland and elsewhere.

Sablier II
Sablier II, a book-length persona poem, is composed of a mix of lyric and narrative passages, rich in rhythm and sound. David Wolf's meditation on being, memory and language ranges from the musical to the critical, from the confessional to the parodic. Sablier II explores the texture of multifarious mindfulness, at once both particular and transcendently human. The sense of consciousness at work in the poem is openly disjunctive, fragmented, characterized by sudden shifts, ludic, multi-registered, though ultimately grounded in the loving acts of attention to this world in all its particular beauty, music, and fleeting, felt presences.
