The five-volume set LNCS 14355, 14356, 14357, 14358 and 14359 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Image and Graphics, ICIG 2023, held in Nanjing, China, during September 22–24, 2023. The 166 papers presented in the proceedings set were carefully reviewed and selected from 409 submissions. They were organized in topical sections as follows: computer vision and pattern recognition; computer graphics and visualization; compression, transmission, retrieval; artificial intelligence; biological and medical image processing; color and multispectral processing; computational imaging; multi-view and stereoscopic processing; multimedia security; surveillance and remote sensing, and virtual reality. The ICIG 2023 is a biennial conference that focuses on innovative technologies of image, video and graphics processing and fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and networking. It will feature world-class plenary speakers, exhibits, and high-quality peer reviewed oral and poster presentations.
Transactions of the International Astronomical Union
IAU Transactions XXIIB summarizes the work of the XXIInd General Assembly. The discourses given during the Inaugural and Closing Ceremonies are reproduced in Chapters I and III, respectively. The proceedings of the two sessions of the General Assembly will be found in Chapter II, which includes the Resolutions and the report of the Finance Committee. The Statutes, Bye-Laws and a few working rules of the Union are published in Chapter IV. The Accounts and other aspects of the administration of the Union are recorded in Chapter V, together with the report of the Executive Committee for this last triennium, and provide the permanent record for the Union in the period 1991-1994. This volume also contains the Commission reports from The Hague compiled by the Presidents of the Commissions (Chapter VI). Finally, Chapter VII contains the list of countries adhering to the Union and the alphabetical, geographical and commission membership lists of about 8000 individual members. The IAU still appears to be unique among the scientific Unions in maintaining this category of individual membership which contributes in a crucial way to the spirit and the aims of the Union.
Integrated Visual Servoing and Force Control
Sight and touch are two elementary, but highly complementary senses - for humans as well as for robots. This monograph develops an integrated vision/force control approach for robotics, combining the advantages of both types of sensors while overcoming their individual drawbacks. It shows how integrated vision/force control improves the task quality in the sense of increased accuracy and execution velocity and widens the range of feasible tasks. The unique feature of this work lies in its comprehensive treatment of the problem from the theoretical development of the various schemes down to the real-time implementation of interaction control algorithms on an industrial robot. The presented approach and its potential impact on the performance of the next generation of robots is starting to be recognized by major manufacturers worldwide.
