A internet chegou para ficar. Aquilo que há anos se via em perspectiva como algo distante hoje começa a consolidar-se. Há exatamente 25 anos, os cibermeios ibero-americanos davam os seus primeiros passos. O ciberjornalismo trazia consigo a promessa de uma informação melhor e diversa, onde o usuário era quem decidia que informação consumir e compartilhar. No período, o ciberjornalismo conseguiu assentar bases que foram aproveitadas pelos cibermeios e os usuários da rede a nível mundial. O jornalismo criou, com o passar do tempo, estratégias de acordo com as características da nova era. Atualmente, os meios que podem ser observados estão trabalhando na organização, gestão e tratamento da informação, com olhares a contemplar conteúdos que respondam às necessidades dos usuários e aproveitar as ferramentas que a internet oferece. Uma tendência notável neste novo cenário é a criação de cibermeios especializados. Generalizou-se a participação dos usuários e se incorporou recursos multimídia e alguns meios anunciaram processos de convergência.
