Service engineering is increasingly posing challenges to traditional software engineering methodologies including specification, modeling, architecture, and verification, just to name a few. On the other hand, the latest advancements in software engineering are continuously leveraged in Service Engineering research, especially in the design and implementation of service-oriented systems. Several mutual impacts between service engineering and software engineering could be observed in the last decade, and many research efforts have been devoted to the field. However, in spite of the considerable efforts and significant contributions, few have attempted to summarize the research results systematically.
Information Systems Development: Business Systems and Services: Modeling and Development, is the collected proceedings of the 19th International Conference on Information Systems Development held in Prague, Czech Republic, August 25 - 27, 2010. It follows in the tradition of previous conferences in the series in exploring the connections between industry, research and education. These proceedings represent ongoing reflections within the academic community on established information systems topics and emerging concepts, approaches and ideas. Sebastian Görg introduces social workflows as a new application domain for Process-Aware Information Systems and draws the design of a social workflow platform that enables private individuals to make use of workflow technology in their everyday lives. Whenever a group of persons works together on a challenging or multifaceted task, a social workflow begins. In textual form, such social workflows are already described and shared in various Internet communities which provide experiential knowledge for achieving different goals, in areas like home repair, vacation trips and computer troubleshooting. The envisioned platform enables its users to construct social workflows according to their specific needs, to share them with a community and to keep track of the execution.
This book constitutes the proceedings of the BPM Forum from the International Conference on Business Process Management, BPM 2016, held in Rio de Janeiro, September 2016.
