G.B. Shaw Is A Literary Mohican Who Bestrode Modern Thought Like A Colossus, But He Was Not A Historian In A Popular Sense. He Wrote Many Plays On Historical Themes, And The Success Of His Historical Plays Shows What He Could Have Achieved If He Had Devoted Himself To Historical Drama. The Present Book Major History Plays Of Shaw: A Fresh Look Presents A Close Study Of Shaw S Select History Plays, Especially The Shavian Notion Of Historical Truth. Shaw, Perhaps, Does Not Believe That History Is Only A Storehouse Of Past Records. He Views The Past Critically As A Step Towards Changing The Present. For Shaw, Historical Truth Is Intensely Related To The Growth Of His Mind, His Firm Faith In The Creed Of Creative Evolution. It Is A Well Conceived And Lucidly Written Book And Commends Itself For Academic Respectability. In This Scholarly Endeavour, Readers Interested In Shaw S Works Will Find Much To Engage Their Attention. It Is Particularly Useful For The Students, Researchers And Teachers Of English Literature.
In August/September 2002, a group of 78 physicists from 50 laboratories in 17 countries met in Erice, Italy, to participate in the 40th Course of the International School of Subnuclear Physics. The purpose of the School was to focus attention on the theoretical and phenomenological developments in gauge theories, as well as in all the other sectors of subnuclear physics. Experimental highights from the most relevant sources of new data were presented and discussed, including the latest news on theoretical developments in quantizing the gravitational forces. This volume constitutes the proceedings of the School. It is dedicated to the memory of Victor Frederick Weisskopf, a founder ? together with John Stewart Bell, Patrick Maynard Stuart Blackett and Isidor Isaac Rabi ? of the ?Ettore Majorana? Centre for Scientific Culture, this School being the first of its 114 Schools now in existence.
These proceedings gather invited and contributed talks presented at the XXII DAE-BRNS High Energy Physics (HEP) Symposium, which was held at the University of Delhi, India, on 12–16 December 2016. The contributions cover a variety of topics in particle physics, astroparticle physics, cosmology and related areas from both experimental and theoretical perspectives, namely (1) Neutrino Physics, (2) Standard Model Physics (including Electroweak, Flavour Physics), (3) Beyond Standard Model Physics, (4) Heavy Ion Physics & QCD (Quantum Chromodynamics), (5) Particle Astrophysics & Cosmology, (6) Future Experiments and Detector Development, (7) Formal Theory, and (8) Societal Applications: Medical...
This book describes treatment of urban solid waste with reference to the principles or steps of ISWM especially in the Indian context. Both engineering and management practices have been discussed in detail. Characteristics of urban solid waste are influenced by the economic and social status of the generators and the climatic conditions. Therefore Indian scenario of the generation and treatment of urban solid waste is explained in the backdrop of international status. Since the field is an interdisciplinary one, environmental and public health issues are also addressed. Latest technologies as well as current rules and regulations applicable in India are compiled for ready reference.
This two-volume set of LNCS 13393 and LNCS 13394 constitutes - in conjunction with the volume LNAI 13395 - the refereed proceedings of the 18th International Conference on Intelligent Computing, ICIC 2022, held in Xi'an, China, in August 2022. The 209 full papers of the three proceedings volumes were carefully reviewed and selected from 449 submissions. This year, the conference concentrated mainly on the theories and methodologies as well as the emerging applications of intelligent computing. Its aim was to unify the picture of contemporary intelligent computing techniques as an integral concept that highlights the trends in advanced computational intelligence and bridges theoretical research with applications. Therefore, the theme for this conference was “Advanced Intelligent Computing Technology and Applications”. Papers focused on this theme were solicited, addressing theories, methodologies, and applications in science and technology.
The book presents a review of research and pilot-scale efforts undertaken by scientists all over the world towards utilization of solar energy for environmental remediation. It gives a complete account of the solar photocatalytic degradation of pollutants present in wastewater and atmosphere and also discusses the solid-phase photocatalytic degradation of plastics in the form of composite. The text further describes the hydrogen generation by photocatalytic water splitting. Various solar collectors and reactors used especially for environmental remediation are also elucidated. Please note: This volume is Co-published with The Energy and Resources Institute Press, New Delhi. Taylor & Francis does not sell or distribute the Hardback in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka
For the fourth time, the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) and the Com- tence Network for Technical, Scienti c High Performance Computing in Bavaria (KONWIHR) publishes the results from scienti c projects conducted on the c- puter systems HLRB I and II (High Performance Computer in Bavaria). This book reports the research carried out on the HLRB systems within the last three years and compiles the proceedings of the Third Joint HLRB and KONWIHR Result and Reviewing Workshop (3rd and 4th December 2007) in Garching. In 2000, HLRB I was the rst system in Europe that was capable of performing more than one Tera op/s or one billion oating point operations per second. In 2006 it was replaced by ...

The book is useful for undergraduate degree and diploma students as well as for fresh graduate engineering trainees in various process consulting organizations.
Commonwealth Literature Today Stands For Literature(S) In English Written In The Commonwealth Countries Outside The Anglo-American Tradition. What Is Common Between The Diverse Members Of The Commonwealth In Spite Of Their Different Calendars Of Independence And Ethnological, Cultural, Political As Also Topographical Set-Ups Is That All These Countries Shared The Common Colonial Experience. So, From India To Nigeria, Canada To Kenya, Australia To Pakistan We Can Discern The Varying Patterns Of A Common Human Experience And Emergence Of Cultural Nationalism Leading To An Emphasis On Their Distinctiveness In Literary Heritage And Assertion Of Cultural Identity. Commonwealth Literature Thus Pre...
