The aim of the study was to dichotomously study the differences in feminism perspectives, support for feminism, and feminist self-identification between students in single-sex and students in co-educational higher learning institutions, with special emphasis on students with chronic single-sex/coed schooling and students with discontinuous single-sex/coed schooling. For this, a web-based survey questionnaire was administered on a sample of 100 undergraduates and graduates (age group 18-23) studying in higher learning institutions all over India. The survey questionnaire included three feminism scales: the liberal, radical, socialist and women of color/womanist subscales of Feminist Perspecti...
Green chemistry is a vital subject playing a key role in environmental sustainability. Despite its importance, very little has been explored in the past years. This book is a comprehensive compilation of the methods, techniques and strategies used in green chemistry. The book highlights some critical aspects of green chemistry related to agriculture and food production. It has been put together for undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students. Each chapter has been cited with new and updated research discoveries to help the postgraduate, and doctorate students and researchers. I hope the presented book will be an important tool for students and researchers.

The chemistry of heterocycles is an important branch of organic chemistry. This is due to the fact that a large number of natural products, e. g. hormones, antibiotics, vitamins, etc. are composed of heterocyclic structures. Often, these compounds show beneficial properties and are therefore applied as pharmaceuticals to treat diseases or as insecticides, herbicides or fungicides in crop protection. This volume presents important pharmaceuticals. Each of the 20 chapters covers in a concise manner one class of heterocycles, clearly structuredas follows: * Structural formulas of most important examples (market products) * Short background of history or discovery * Typical syntheses of important examples * Mode of action * Characteristic biological activity * Structure-activity relationship * Additional chemistry information (e.g. further transformations, alternative syntheses, metabolic pathways, etc.) * References. A valuable one-stop reference source for researchers in academia and industry as well as for graduate students with career aspirations in the pharmaceutical chemistry.
This new volume, Nanomedicine for the Treatment of Disease: From Concept to Application, looks at the application of nanomedicines with a particular focus on their use in the treatment of diseases. The chapters in this volume, contributed by eminent scientists, researchers, and nanotechnologists from across the globe, highlight key advancements, challenges, and opportunities in the area of application of nanomedicines for disease treatment. They explore the design and development of therapeutic nanocarriers for targeting drugs for satiating the demands of disease treatment process. The volume explores the use nanomedicines for the diagnosis and treatment of a multitude various diseases and health conditions, including respiratory diseases, neurological disorders, genetic diseases, pulmonary fungal infections, neuroAIDS, cardiovascular disorders, gastric and colonic diseases, skin disorders, cancer, brain tumors, leishmaniasis and other visceral diseases, hypertension, and ocular diseases.
This book comprehensively covers the mechanisms of action and inhibitor design for HIV-1 integrase. It serves as a resource for scientists facing challenging drug design issues and researchers in antiviral drug discovery. Despite numerous review articles and isolated book chapters dealing with HIV-1 integrase, there has not been a single source for those working to devise anti-AIDS drugs against this promising target. But this book fills that gap and offers a valuable introduction to the field for the interdisciplinary scientists who will need to work together to design drugs that target HIV-1 integrase.
Following the successful and proven concept used in "Bioactive Heterocyclic Compound Classes" by the same editors, this book is the first to present approved pharmaceutical and agrochemical compounds classified by their carboxylic acid functionality in one handy volume. Each of the around 40 chapters describes one or two typical syntheses of a specific compound class and provides concise information on the history of development, mode of action, biological activity and field of application, as well as structure-activity relationships. In addition, similarities and differences between pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals are discussed in the introduction. Written by a team of experts in the field, this is a useful reference for researchers in academia and chemical or pharmaceutical companies working in the field of total synthesis and natural product chemistry, drug development, and crop protection research.
