Il significato del volume è racchiuso già nel trinomio del titolo, che rispecchia la sequenza logica alla base della raccolta Maruffi: i terreni punteggiati di evidenze antiche costituiscono per densità di ritrovamenti una piattaforma di riflessione imprescindibile, che alimenta la memoria perpetuata dai materiali. La specifica ulteriore, riferita alla raccolta numismatica, riguarda il contenuto di buona parte del volume, dedicato sia all’inquadramento generale, topografico e storico, sia all’edizione critica del corpus monetale.
Migranten und Stadtgesellschaft im frühmittelalterlichen Rom
Griechischsprachige Einwanderer und ihre Nachkommen prägten das byzantinische und post-byzantinische Rom des 7.bis 9. Jahrhunderts. Das Buch fragt nach Konfigurationen der römischen Stadtgesellschaft im Angesicht von einzelnen und kleinen Gruppen dieser Einwanderer. Dabei konzentriert es sich auf Mönchsgemeinschaften in den zahlreichen griechischsprachigen Klöstern Roms und auf Angehörige der päpstlichen Verwaltung. Anhand von Hagiographie, theologischem Schriftgut, aber auch materiellen Befunden wird nach der Selbstverortung von Migranten gefragt, nach ihrer Positioniertheit gegenüber verschiedenen lokalen und überregionalen Gruppen.
