Mark folded the tarp and carried it and the locked box into the potting shed. He laid the tarp on a shelf and sat on the overturned clay pot Fred had used as a stool. Rubbing his eyes he stared bleakly at the old metal file that held the seeds of something too awful to imagine. Nothing had prepared him for this. At the peak of a high-powered corporate career, Mark Grant enjoys position, prestige, and a loving family. His world is shaken when he abruptly loses the job that has been the focus of his life. He starts anew as the owner of a small but profitable landscape business and-just when he seems to have regained his balance-discovers that the company he owns is part of a vast network that threatens not only his livelihood, but the very lives of his family, friends, and countless other innocent victims. He begins to collect evidence of illegally dumped biohazardous waste to present to the Department of Environmental Health, but the risk of exposing the illicit activity intensifies when the criminals threaten his daughter's life. Will Mark be able to stop an environmental disaster and, at the same time, save his family and his business?

American by Choice

The book American by Choice is the true story of Henryk Szostak and his familys odyssey from Poland to Siberia, Africa, England and finally, the United States of America. It chronicles how Henryk, as a seven-year-old boy in Africa, learned of the United States of America from an unlikely source: newspaper comics. He was highly moved by the tale of an honest black American shoeshine boy and for fifteen years, Henryk nurtured the dream of becoming a citizen of the land of the free. The book, written in narrative form in Henryks own words, is an autobiography of his familys journey, but also serves as a testament to what humans can endure and overcome by sheer survival instinct, faith and a lit...

Like some people recently retired, Mark had taken on a diversion that pretty well takes up much of his time. At one time, he collected baseball cards, a pastime that required him to acquire cards through trades with fellow enthusiasts or winning cards through arcane competitions when the application of Facebook allowed him to accumulate cards more easily. Several years later, on an airplane flight from Montreal to New York City, Mark glimpses a television show being shown on a computer laptop belonging to a woman sitting in a seat across the aisle of that flight. Mark thinks and then becomes convinced that one of the actresses playing a woman in that show is in fact his first girlfriend. That realization results in a search for the identity of that woman though a variety of methods and sources, an effort that culminates in a rendezvous with his memory.

Grounded in the grandeur of the sub-Saharan wilderness, The Story of Bones traces a remarkable boy’s journey from a hardscrabble cassava farm to the rarified world of a private African safari camp. Bones comes of age facing heartache, deprivation, and formidable human adversaries—the most dangerous creatures in Africa. His path to love and fulfillment awakens a passion for imperiled animals while forging loyalties that force him to make a wrenching decision. The narrative pulses with tension and unforeseen twists. Provocative and moving, The Story of Bones builds to a powerful appeal for the preservation of Africa’s most endangered species. An author at the peak of her storytelling powers, Donna Cousins transports readers to the sights, sounds, smells, and realities—both harsh and beautiful—of the African bush. Foreword INDIES 2018 Book of the Year Finalist in two categories: General Adult Fiction and Multicultural Adult Fiction.
