It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the recently concluded conference, held on May 2–3, 2023, in the beautiful Kingdom of Bahrain. This pivotal conference was focused on “Sustainable Innovations in Management in the Digital Transformation Era”. In an age defined by rapid technological advancements and digital innovation, the way we understand and carry out management is continually evolving. The conference brought together thought leaders, industry professionals, academ□ics, and innovators from around the globe to share insights, exchange ideas, and cata□lyze change. The digital transformation era has not only revolutionized our personal lives but has significantly impacted the business landscape. It became a strategic prior□ity, driving companies to reassess their business models, reinvent their strategies, and redefine their value propositions. Amidst this change, ensuring sustainability, building resilient, adaptable, and future-proof businesses became a central theme.
Game Changers in Management
A “game changer” is a metaphor commonly used to describe a broad range of events and phenomena in different fields and domains, from natural disasters, through economic crises, emerging narratives, technological or social innovations to conflicts and political or military interventions. Although precise definitions of a “game changer” vary and its conceptual boundaries remain blurred scholars agree that its main quality is the ability to change the status quo. Management scholars have long been interested in increasing the relevance and impact of their studies by addressing a diverse range of global issues. This aspiration to offer significant and meaningful theoretical, practical and societal contributions has led to the advent of strand of management research related to “grand challenges”. Solving any of these challenges could be a game changer, not only from management studies perspective but also from a wider social standpoint.

It is with great pleasure that I present to you the proceedings of our Recent Advances in Management and Engineering held on November 24 – 27, 2023 in Male. Maldives. This conference represents a milestone in our ongoing journey towards academic excellence where we aspire to become a renowned platform for the exchange of ideas, collaboration, networking, and learning. These proceedings contain contributions that are very amazing in innovations in management. It covers a wide range of issues, ranging from the most recent trends in business to innovations in fundamentals of management. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th SIGSAND/PLAIS EuroSymposium 2017 titled Information Systems: Research, Development, Applications, and Education, held in Gdansk and Sopot, Poland, on September 27, 2017. The objective of the EuroSymposium on Systems Analysis and Design is to promote and develop high quality research on all issues related to analysis and design (SAND). It provides a forum for SAND researchers and practitioners in Europe and beyond to interact, collaborate, and develop their field. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Business Information Systems, BIS 2017, held in Poznań, Poland, in June 2017. Big Data Analytics helps to understand and enhance enterprises by linking many fields of information technology and business. This year’s conference theme was: Big Data Analytics for Business and Public Administration. The 24 full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 72 submissions. Information Technology for Management. Ongoing Research and Development
This book constitutes extended selected papers from the 15th Conference on Advanced Information Technologies for Management, AITM 2017, and the 12th Conference on Information Systems Management, ISM 2017, held as part of the Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems, FedCSIS, which took place in Prague, Poland, in September 2017. The 13 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 48 submissions. They were organized in topical sections named: information technology and systems for knowledge management; information technology and systems for business transformation; and implementation and evaluation of information systems.
Complexity in Information Systems Development
This volume is a collection of papers on emerging concepts, approaches and ideas in information systems research. It examines theoretical and methodological issues related to both information systems development in general and the complexity of information systems as socio-technical systems. The book draws on invited papers selected from the proceedings of the 25th International Conference on Information Systems Development (ISD) held in Katowice, Poland, August 24 - 26, 2016. The invited conference papers were revised and expanded and present research that is focused on context, creativity, and cognition in information systems development. These issues are significant as they provide the basis for organizations to identify new markets, support innovative technology deployment, and enable mobile applications to detect, sense, interpret, and respond to the environment.
Business Information Systems Workshops
This book contains revised papers from the three workshops and two accompanying events that took place at the 20th International Conference on Business Information Systems, BIS 2017, held in Poznan, Poland, in June 2017. The workshops included in this volume are: * The 9th Workshop on Applications of Knowledge-Based Technologies in Business – AKTB 2017 accepted 9 papers from 16 submissions and featured 1 invited paper. * The 8th Workshop on Business and IT Alignment - BITA 2017 selected 5 papers from 10 submissions. * The 1st Workshop on Sustainable Energy Systems, Smart Infrastructures, and Smart Environments – SESSISE 2017 selected 2 papers for inclusion in this book. In addition, BIS hosted a Doctoral Consortium from which 5 papers are included.
