Aging, Health, and Longevity in the Mexican-Origin Population

Aging, Health, and Longevity in the Mexican-Origin Population creates a foundation for an interdisciplinary discussion of the trajectory of disability and long-term care for older people of Mexican-origin from a bi-national perspective. Andreas (Andrew) Zimmerman married Anna Elisabeth Frëyburger (widow of Andreas Frëyburger) in 1703, and they had at least nine children. They immigrated in 1727 from Germany (via Rotterdam and England) to Philadelphia, and settled at Goshenhoppen in what is now Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Their seventh child was Johann Georg Zimmerman (1714-1795), who anglicized his name to George Zimmerman. He married Anna Catharina Seidel in 1742, and assisted with the Revolutionary War. They moved to Frederick County, Maryland. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Virginia, West Virginia and elsewhere.

Jane Austen on Screen

This collection of essays explores the literary and cinematic implications of translating Austen's prose into film. Contributors raise questions of how prose fiction and cinema differ, of how mass commercial audiences require changes to script and character, and of how continually remade films evoke memories of earlier productions. The essays represent widely divergent perspectives, from literary 'purists' suspicious of filmic renderings of Austen to film-makers who see the text as a stimulus for producing exceptional cinema. This comprehensive study will be of interest to students and teachers alike.
