In a world of high expectations, it's easy for women to feel unworthy. But there is someone who loves women just as they are: Jesus. Through engaging storytelling, Dorothy Valcarcel reveals the lives of eighteen New Testament women who knew Jesus personally. They were broken, needy, lonely, flawed, or empty, but Jesus cared about them and took time to meet their needs. With a narrative that takes readers from biblical times to the modern day, Valcarcel defines the kind of everlasting love for which every woman longs--the kind that lifts her up, holds her tight, and never lets her go.

Marital Arts

I was a weirdo in high school and college. I wanted to hang out with boys instead of girls and never could understand it. Hardly any girls wanted to hang out with me either, so I was a loner. Then when I became an adult, I had a personality profile done and discovered that a male member of our church had the same personality as I did. I was amazed! Then my light bulb turned on when I learned that only 15% of the people with my profile were females. My friend suggested that I write a book oriented toward that 15% so they could relate more easily to their husbands. So here it is! This book differs from others based on psychology in that it has a Christian basis and helps Christian women to understand themselves better. Also, I have heard that most women with this profile do not become Christians; hopefully this book will inspire them to do so. So how can I possibly know enough to write a book like this? I took psychology courses in college and have a Masters degree in Bible.

This book is a must-read for women and men alike, as we are all somehow associated with a female victim-survivor of violence and abuse.

Literary Translation, Reception, and Transfer

The three concepts mentioned in the title of this volume imply the contact between two or more literary phenomena; they are based on similarities that are related to a form of ‘travelling’ and imitation or adaptation of entire texts, genres, forms or contents. Transfer comprises all sorts of ‘travelling’, with translation as a major instrument of transferring literature across linguistic and cultural barriers. Transfer aims at the process of communication, starting with the source product and its cultural context and then highlighting the mediation by certain agents and institutions to end up with inclusion in the target culture. Reception lays its focus on the receiving culture, esp...

Virtual English examines English language communication on the World Wide Web, focusing on Internet practices crafted by underserved communities in the US and overlooked participants in several Asian Diaspora communities. Jillana Enteen locates instances where subjects use electronic media to resist popular understandings of cyberspace, computer-mediated communication, nation and community, presenting unexpected responses to the forces of globalization and predominate US value systems. The populations studied here contribute websites, conversations and artifacts that employ English strategically, broadening and splintering the language to express their concerns in the manner they perceive as...

Although they're privately certified, many of these unseasoned aviators are unaware of the potential accidents that lie ahead while trying to build decision-making skills on their own -- many times falling victim to inexperience.
