Stratigraphic Traps
The Treatise of Petroleum Geology was conceived during a discussion held at the annual AAPG meeting in 1984 in San Antonio, Texas. This discussion led to the conviction that AAPG should publish a state-of-the-art textbook in petroleum geology, aimed not at the student, but at the practicing petroleum geologist. Petroleum geochemistry as it is today may very well be the triggering event that brings the other branches of geosciences like sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, geophysics and others to a fruitful synthesis as evidenced by integrated basin studies.
