PHARMACY PRACTICE

It is with great pleasure that we introduce the first edition of the textbook on “Pharmacy Practice”. This book further elucidates and clarifies simple socially related concepts needed for pharma students to get through the first course of BP 703T. This book is a sincere attempt to concepts and vocabulary understandable to students and field experts alike. I have tried to simplify the concepts for ease of grasping even for the first year students. The text was put through great lengths to keep it error-free and convey the subject in a style that is understandable to students. However, any recommendations and helpful criticism would be much appreciated and included in a subsequent edition. At the end of the course student will be able to: 1. Hospital and its organisation 2. Hospital pharmacy 3. Drug reactions 4. Budget preparation 5. Drug store management

CLINICAL RESEARCH AND PHARMACOVIGILANCE

CLINICAL RESEARCH AND PHARMACOVIGILANCE

Clinical research and pharmacovigilance are fundamental domains in contemporary healthcare that propel therapeutic therapies forward and guarantee patient safety globally. We go through six important areas in this book, examining their importance, nuances, and the changing environment that influences them. The foundation of medical innovation is clinical research, which conducts extensive testing and refinement of novel medications, treatments, and medical technologies. This discipline aims to provide answers to important queries about the efficacy, safety, and effectiveness of healthcare therapies via well planned research. We explore the stages involved in clinical trials, moral issues, and the legal structure guiding these important studies. Another pillar of healthcare is pharmacovigilance, which is the continuous observation and assessment of pharmaceuticals after they have been approved. It aims to identify, evaluate, and lessen negative effects in order to maintain the advantage of therapies above their drawbacks. We examine the crucial procedures for risk assessment, signal detection, and adverse event reporting that support the security of medical devices.

The Roots of Hermeneutics in Kant's Reflective-Teleological Judgment

This book challenges the standard view that modern hermeneutics begins with Friedrich Ast and Friedrich Schleiermacher, arguing instead that it is the dialectic of reflective and teleological reason in Kant’s Critique of Judgment that provides the actual proto-hermeneutic foundation. It is revolutionary in doing so by replacing interpretive truth claims by the more appropriate claim of rendering opaque contexts intelligible. Taking Gadamer’s comprehensive analysis of hermeneutics in Truth and Method (1960) as its point of departure, the book turns to Kant’s Critiques, reviewing his major concepts as a coherent system in relation to his sensus communis. At the heart of the book is the i...

Sex Roles of Children in Contemporary Indian Society

India has witnessed profound changes in almost every aspect of life. The process of industrialization, urbanisation and secularization have brought about socio-psychological changes in the attitudes and values of people of this country, especially among the urban population. One of the changes is breaking down of traditional sex-role differentiations resulting in an increased flexibility in the roles and activities considered permissible for each sex, especially for girls and women. Yet being still typically a traditional society, the effect of these secular changes is unknown or remains a guess. In this book, the author attempts to answer the question as to how far these changes have affected the sex-role behaviour of the Indian children. The exhaustive review of empirical studies on sex-roles is useful for those who wish to have a consolidated account of researches on sex-roles carried out till now. This book will be useful for parents, teachers, educators and students of Home Science, Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology.

Data Intelligence and Cognitive Informatics

The book is a collection of peer-reviewed best selected research papers presented at the International Conference on Data Intelligence and Cognitive Informatics (ICDICI 2021), organized by SCAD College of Engineering and Technology, Tirunelveli, India, during July 16–17, 2021. This book discusses new cognitive informatics tools, algorithms, and methods that mimic the mechanisms of the human brain which leads to an impending revolution in understating a large amount of data generated by various smart applications. The book includes novel work in data intelligence domain which combines with the increasing efforts of artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and cognitive science to study and develop a deeper understanding of the information processing systems.

Handbook of Decision Support Systems for Neurological Disorders

Handbook of Decision Support Systems for Neurological Disorders provides readers with complete coverage of advanced computer-aided diagnosis systems for neurological disorders. While computer-aided decision support systems for different medical imaging modalities are available, this is the first book to solely concentrate on decision support systems for neurological disorders. Due to the increase in the prevalence of diseases such as Alzheimer, Parkinson’s and Dementia, this book will have significant importance in the medical field. Topics discussed include recent computational approaches, different types of neurological disorders, deep convolution neural networks, generative adversarial ...

Drying Technologies For Foods

Drying is an important unit operation used in the industry for processing and preservation of food products. Food industry always looks for cost effective and energy efficient drying techniques to commercially succeed in their ventures and to fulfill demand of high quality dried food products. Although a large volume of technical literature is available on drying of foods, it is still quite challenging for scientists and engineers to improve upon the existing drying systems and quality of the products. The book consists of 14 chapters detailing freeze drying, atmospheric freeze drying, swell drying, multi-flash drying, electro-hydrodynamic drying, pulse combustion drying, foam mat drying, ultrasound- assisted drying and fluidized bed drying. It also includes chapters which are commodity-specific such as mushroom drying, drying and roasting of cocoa and coffee beans. The degradation mechanism and kinetics of vitamin C degradation in fruits and vegetables, kinetics modeling of drying process for the recovery of bioactive compounds and energy calculation procedures for dryers is also covered which would be helpful to improve dryer operation and efficiency.
