Based on a NATO Advanced Study Institute held in 1993, this book addresses recent advances in automatic speech recognition and speech coding. The book contains contributions by many of the most outstanding researchers from the best laboratories worldwide in the field. The contributions have been grouped into five parts: on acoustic modeling; language modeling; speech processing, analysis and synthesis; speech coding; and vector quantization and neural nets. For each of these topics, some of the best-known researchers were invited to give a lecture. In addition to these lectures, the topics were complemented with discussions and presentations of the work of those attending. Altogether, the reader is given a wide perspective on recent advances in the field and will be able to see the trends for future work.
Surveys research over the past few years at a level accessible to graduate students and researchers with a background in differential and Riemannian geometry. Among the topics are foliations of codimension one, holonomy, Lie foliations, basic forms, mean curvature, the Hodge theory for the transversal Laplacian, applications of the heat equation method to Riemannian foliations, the spectral theory, Connes' perspective of foliations as examples of non- commutative spaces, and infinite-dimensional examples. The bibliographic appendices list books and surveys on particular aspects of foliations, proceedings of conferences and symposia, all papers on the subject up to 1995, and the numbers of papers published on the subject during the years 1990-95. This volume presents the proceedings of the Second International Colloquium on Grammatical Inference (ICGI-94), held in Alicante, Spain in September 1994. Besides 25 research papers carefully selected and refereed by the program committee, the book contains a survey by E. Vidal. The book is devoted to all those aspects of automatic learning that explicitly focus on principles, theory, and applications of grammars and languages. The papers are organized in sections on formal aspects; language modelling and linguistic applications; stochastic approaches, applications and performance analysis; and neural networks, genetic algorithms, and artificial intelligence techniques.

"Designed for busy medical practitioners who need a trustworthy, current, and easy-to-use resource, Conn's Current Therapy 2016 focuses solely on up-to-date treatment protocols for the most common complaints, acute diseases, and chronic illnesses. Covering more than 300 topics, Drs. Edward T. Bope and Rick D. Kellerman present the expertise and knowledge of hundreds of skilled international leaders on evidence-based clinical management options, ensuring you're well equipped with the practical and accurate guidance needed for effective patient care"--Publisher's description.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Fourth International Colloquium on Grammatical Inference, ICGI-98, held in Ames, Iowa, in July 1998. The 23 revised full papers were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book from a total of 35 submissions. The book addresses a wide range of grammatical inference theory such as automata induction, grammar induction, automatic language acquisition, etc. as well as a variety of applications in areas like syntactic pattern recognition, adaptive intelligent agents, diagnosis, computational biology, data mining, and knowledge discovery.
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 20th International Conference on the Integration of Constraint Programming, Artificial Intelligence, and Operations Research, CPAIOR 2022, held in Nice, France, during May 29–June 1, 2023. The 26 full papers and the 6 short papers presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 71 submissions. The content of the papers present new techniques or new applications, and provide an opportunity for researchers in one area to learn about techniques in the others. Besides they give researchers the opportunity to show how the integration of techniques from different fields can lead to interesting results on large and complex problems.
