Feminist Framing of Europeanisation
‘Bridging European and gender studies, this volume deserves a great welcome to the literature. It not only offers a feminist reading of Europeanisation in general, but also discusses the process of Europeanisation and de-Europeanisation of Turkey with regard to changes in gender policy. The book demonstrates that the EU is the leading body to advocate gender equality, and also proves that it is a firm gender actor compared to other international organisations. Framing Violence
Framing Violence: Conflicting Images, Identities, and Discourses explores many of the questions surrounding challenges in framing the rising violence across the globe and in its emerging, new forms. The chapters in this volume provide multidisciplinary case studies and theoretical debates, with violence being discussed not only in its political form, but also in its domestic, financial, and artistic forms. This collection will provide a venue for discussions on the diverse issues surrounding the theme of violence and conflict from international and interdisciplinary perspectives, and divided into three parts, the first of which focuses on how the culture industry frames violence and violent actors. The second part investigates how violence is framed in legal structures and mediascapes. EU Conditionality in Turkey: When Does it Work? When Does it Fail? seeks to address several interconnected questions on the terms, circumstances, and factors that make the dynamics of conditionality work or fail in the case of the European Union-Turkey relationship. Analyzing the areas of disputes and of agreements, the contributions of this edited volume are focused on exploring the strengths and weaknesses of what the conditionality offers or stipulates, and what Turkey, as a candidate state, is capable or incapable of performing in response. Metamorphosis of Turkish Foreign Policy in the 21st Century
The fading of the post-WWII order called for Turkey to take on a new role in this new multi-centred and multipolar era with new players emerging from different regions. The new Enterprising and Humanitarian Foreign Policy is an effort to locate Turkey better in the 21st global politics. While the literature on principles of Turkish foreign policy is abundant, the actual mechanisms by which these principles are implemented in practice are still ambiguous to most scholars and foreign policy practitioners especially within the country's newly developed Turkish foreign policy framework. This edited volume therefore aims to shed light on this little-explored aspect of Turkish foreign policy. By critically analyzing several cases from different geographical locations, this volume explains why Turkey developed a new foreign policy framework, and by which mechanisms this new foreign policy framework has been implemented around the world.
