The Three Creeds

“No one can read the New Testament with any care and attention without being struck by the prominence given therein to faith or belief. Our Lord’s ministry began with the call to ‘ repent and believe the Gospel.’ Faith was the demand which He habitually made from those who sought His help; and as the reward of faith His mighty works were wrought.” –From Chapter I—Of Creeds in General: The Grounds on which the Requirement of Faith is Made

This book is a revival of The Thirty-Nine Articles of the Church of England, explained with an introduction by Edgar C.S. Gibson. The Thirty-Nine Articles form part of the Book of Common Prayer used by both the Church of England and the Episcopal Church. They were finalised in 1571, and incorporated into the Book of Common Prayer. The book helped to standarize the English language, and was to have a lasting effect on religion in the United Kingdom, and elsewhere through its wide use

The New Passover

A recent journal article stated, "There is something missing in the way the churches do Communion." Why is it that this central act of Christian worship is often so dull, dreary, and formal? Indeed at times it can be as somber as a funeral with people silently queuing cafeteria style in lines to receive a morsel of bread or a rice paper emblem of bread and then joining the wine queue for a tiny sip of wine. Strangely the churches call the Eucharist a "supper," but there is no meal in the gathering. Indeed on occasions it can feel a bit like the Mad Hatter's tea party, which was supposed have mouth-watering festive things to eat but there was only bread!
