As an annual event, The 2nd International Conference on Islamic Studies (ICIS) 2020 continued the agenda to bring together researcher, academics, experts and professionals in examining selected theme by applying multidisciplinary approaches. In 2020, this event will be held in 27-28 October at IAIN Ponorogo. The conference from any kind of stakeholders related with Islamic Studies, Education, Political, Law and Social Related Studies. Each contributed paper was refereed before being accepted for publication. The double-blind peer reviewed was used in the paper selection.
Television’s Streaming Wars
This volume addresses contemporary debates and trends regarding the production and distribution, content, and audience engagement with the television streaming industry. The book interrogates the economics and structure of the industry, questions the types and diversity of content perpetuated on streaming services, and addresses how audiences engage with content from US and global perspectives and within various research paradigms. Chapters address television streaming wars, including the debates and trends in terms of its production and competition, diversity and growth of programming, and audience consumption, focusing on multiple platforms, content, and users. The Covid-19 pandemic has changed our activities, like teaching, researching, and socializing. We are confused because we haven’t experienced before. However, as Earth's smartest inhabitants, we can adapt new ways to survive the pandemic without losing enthusiasm. Therefore, even in pandemic conditions, we can still have scientific discussions, even virtually. The main theme of this symposium is "Reinforcement of the Sustainable Development Goals Post Pandemic" as a part of the masterplan of United Nations for sustainable development goals in 2030. This symposium is attended by 348 presenters from Indonesia, Malaysia, UK, Scotland, Thailand, Taiwan, Tanzania and Timor Leste which published 202 papers. Furthermore, we are delighted to introduce the proceedings of the 2nd Borobudur Symposium Borobudur on Humanities and Social Sciences 2020 (2nd BIS-HSS 2020). We hope our later discussion may result transfer of experiences and research findings from participants to others and from keynote speakers to participants. Also, we hope this event can create further research network.

"New media and development of gender roles: law, social, and economic perspective.” This theme was raised as an effort to observe the development of new technology that has greatly affected people’s lives. Formerly to seek information, people can get it through conventional radio media, newspapers and television. But now only use the smartphone we can get very much information that can be obtained by accessing the online media portal or sharing and socializing through social media. For decades it has been stated that the media has the power to shape public opinion. Media not only can form a “worldview” of society, but also able to create awareness and individual belief in reality; a reality that has been defined by the media. Media has a powerful and direct effect to the audience (market). Including how then the media formed an opinion in the community about gender roles through the content provided by the new media. Of course it will be interesting to study media related to the law, social, and economic perspective.
