Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) are biocontrol agents that are used to control a wide variety of insect pests within agriculture and forestry. In addition to their use as bio-pesticides, EPNs have a fascinating biology and are thus considered model organisms in ecology, symbiosis and pathogenesis. This book presents basic knowledge and diverse applications to illustrate how EPNs play an important role as potent biocontrol solutions. It describes: - Fundamental concepts such as biology, taxonomy, symbiosis genomics and behavioral ecology. - Aspects of commercialization, including mass production, formulation, safety and regulation, and marketing. - Diverse cropping systems e.g. maize, wheat and grains, citrus, orchard systems, berries, vine crops, vegetables and turf. - Other applications including urban, nursery, forestry, greenhouse, veterinary and medical. - Ecological considerations and applications in conservation biocontrol. This book is a must have for all pest management professionals including those practicing integrated pest management strategies.

The Behavioural Ecology of Parasites

Parasites have evolved numerous complex and fascinating ways of interacting with their hosts. The subject attracts the interest of numerous biologists from the perspective of ecology and behavioural biology, as well as from those concerned with more applied aspects of parasitology. However, until now there has been no recent book to synthesize this field. This book, written by leading authorities from the USA, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, provides the most comprehensive coverage of this important topic on the market.

Behind the Edwin W. Brown Collection at Taylor University -- one of the world's finest holdings of C. S. Lewis first editions, letters, and manuscripts -- are tales of thirty years of warm and humorous adventures, tales of curiosity, perseverance, and "coincidence" -- a British pub in an American basement -- an obscure name scrawled in a rare Lewis book -- a long-lost Lewis manuscript which solves a modern controversy -- a little girl's treasure, sold by mistake and amazingly recovered --and friendships and encounters with those (among many others) who knew Lewis well -- Walter Hooper, Doug Gresham, Pauline Baynes, George Sayer, and Owen Barfield.

Lewis Base Catalysis in Organic Synthesis

This three-volume set represents the first comprehensive coverage of the rapidly expanding field of Lewis base catalysis that has attracted enormous attention in recent years. Lewis base catalysis is a conceptually novel paradigm that encompasses an extremely wide variety of preparatively useful transformations and is particularly effective for enantioselectively constructing new stereogenic centers. As electron-pair donors, Lewis bases can influence the rate and stereochemical course of myriad synthetic organic reactions. The book presents the conceptual/mechanistic principles that underlie Lewis base catalysis, and then builds upon that foundation with a thorough presentation of many different reaction types. And last but not least, the editors, Prof. Edwin Vedejs and Prof. Scott E. Denmark, are without doubt the leaders in this emerging field and have compiled high quality contributions from an impressive collection of international experts.

This selection of articles by Lewis E. Hahn addresses the philosophical school of contextualism and four contemporary American philosophers: John Dewey, Henry Nelson Wieman, Stephen C. Pepper, and Brand Blanshard. Stressing the relatively recent contextualistic worldview, which he considers one of the best world hypotheses, Hahn seeks to achieve a broad perspective within which all things may be given their due place. After providing a brief outline, Hahn explains contextualism in relation to other philosophies. In his opening chapter, as in later chapters, he expresses contextualism as a form of pragmatic naturalism. In spite of Hahn's high regard for contextualism, however, he does not think it would be good if we were limited to a single worldview. "The more different views we have and the more different sources of possible light we have, the better our chances that some of these cosmic maps will shed light on our world and our place in it."
