Das Europaische Wettbewerbsrecht zeichnet sich in besonderem Masse durch eine enge Zusammenarbeit der Europaischen Kommission mit den nationalen Wettbewerbsbehorden aus. Eike C. Jani zeigt durch die vergleichende Analyse von Europaischem Kartell- und Beihilfeverfahren die Grundstrukturen dieser Kooperationsbeziehungen im Mehrebenensystem der Union auf. Dabei wird deutlich, dass es in den vergangenen Jahren zu einer Angleichung der Verfahrensrechte beider Rechtsgebiete gekommen ist. Gleichzeitig macht er fortbestehende Divergenzen sichtbar und zeigt aufbauend auf den identifizierten Grundstrukturen Reformperspektiven zur Fortentwicklung des Europaischen Wettbewerbsrechts auf. Abgerundet wird die Untersuchung durch einen Einblick in die Verwaltungspraxis und die Diskussion moglicher Rechtsfolgen eines Verstosses gegen die Kooperationsregeln.

Progress towards monitoring of microlitter in Scandinavian marine environments:
Microlitter consists of minute particles of anthropogenic or processed natural material. The project brings together research groups to conduct specific case studies in gradients from near urban sources such as the traffic environment and cities to the coastal water and sediments in order to study the relative occurrence of specific sources and their environmental dispersion and distribution. The conclusion were first that in sediments from the road environment (tunnel runoff water), tire particles, asphalt and road markings could be identified, and in the urban creek sediments many black particles including elastomers, charcoal-like and oil and soot where in high abundance and decreased rapidly out in the recipient. The results emphasize the role of the cities as hotspot source functions for microlitter in the coastal environment and also where mitigating measures could be directed.

Uniting the long-dispersed 16 panels of a complex Renaissance masterwork Between the years 1471 and 1472, Italian Renaissance artists Francesco del Cossa (c. 1430- c. 1477) and Ercole de' Roberti (c. 1451-96) completed a multipanel piece commissioned by the patrons of the Basilica di San Petronio in Bologna. Composed of 16 poplar panels, the masterpiece honored Saint Vincent Ferrer, who had been canonized two decades earlier, rendered in exquisite colors and precious gold. In the early 18th century, however, the altarpiece was dismantled and each panel cut down into individual paintings which were then dispersed globally among collectors over the course of the next century. Today, the separate panels are owned by nine different museums, from Washington, DC, to its native Italy. This volume presents an investigation of the storied polyptych and its historical and philological dimensions, including a reconstruction of the plausible organization of the original altarpiece.
