Ideals and Realities of Regional Integration in the Muslim World
This is a case study of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). It argues that the ECO region has all the necessary elements for regional integration, however, the ECO has not yet reached its goals due to a postponement of its strategic, political and security decisions and the lack of a common denominator of identity and interests. The argument reinforces the notion that regionalism is not only an economic decision but also a political one which may yield economic dividends to the member states. The book explains the general theoretical nexus between regionalism and security in some of the more successful and well-known regional formations. Then it goes in depth to discuss the political economy and history of the ECO and its various ties with the West. It stresses the political and security decisions needed to mobilize the ECOs resources and improve its efficacy, and analyses regional security of the both the southern and the northern tiers of the ECO in detail, focusing particularly on the situation in Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In the decade following the 1993 Oslo Peace Accords, some 100,000 diasporic Palestinians returned to the West Bank and Gaza. Approaching The Discipline of International Relations
The work attempts to present an Islamic paradigm of International Relations, whilst studying and critiquing the knowledge-power nexus of current and historical discourse in International Relations. It explores the historical development of dominant paradigms intrinsic to the discipline of IR as studied from a Euro-centric, Western perspective, and questions their efficacy in relation to the socio-economic-religious realities and context of the Muslim world. Terminologies and concepts are developed as integral aspects of an Islamic Civilizational Paradigm of International Relations, with premises rooted in the foundational sources of the Qur'an and the Sunnah. In constructing an Islamic Civilizational Paradigm of International Relations, a product of four decades of teaching and research at Cairo University, the author simultaneously challenges the place that Islam broadly occupies within secular paradigms currently dominating International Relations theory. She further explores the type of research questions and analysis that need to be addressed for an Islamic Civilizational Paradigm to have a viable future.

Islam and Higher Education
This book explores the different concepts of 'a university' and the way they shape practice in Muslim contexts, with a particular focus on the Islamic republic of Pakistan. Higher education in Muslim contexts is often criticised for being incapable either of contributing to the socio-cultural and civilisational developments of society or of doing research and producing knowledge of a high standard.
