Excerpt from Electric Lamps and Electric Lighting: A Course of Four Lectures on Electric Illumination Delivered at the Royal Institution of Great Britain Bouguer dispersed the rays of the sun falling on a small hole by a concave lens and compared the diffused sunlight with the light of a candle. Bond formed the image of the sun on a sphere of silvered glass, and com pared it when so weakened by re ection with a standard light. Bouguer found that the intensity of full sunlight was times greater than that of full moonlight, and Bond found the ratio to be to 1.
