IV Jornadas de Investigadores predoctorales
Esta publicación recoge las actas de la cuarta edición de las Jornadas de Investigadores Predoctorales organizadas por el Departamento de Historia del Arte de la Universidad de Zaragoza, dando continuidad a las aportaciones de los anteriores encuentros celebrados en Daroca (2014), Albarracín (2016) y Gallur (2018). En esta ocasión, ha colaborado el Ayuntamiento de Almudévar, localidad de acogida de las Jornadas los días 13 y 14 de noviembre de 2020, finalmente adaptadas al formato telemático. El volumen presenta algunas de las investigaciones que se están llevando a cabo a nivel nacional, contribuyendo así al conocimiento de un amplio abanico de temas relacionados con la historia del arte, el patrimonio y la cultura visual global desde época antigua hasta la actualidad.

The open country of Texas between the Nueces River and the Rio Grande was sparsely settled through the nineteenth century, and most of the settlers who did live there had Hispanic names that until recently were rarely admitted into the pages of Texas history. In 1935, however, a descendant of one of the old Spanish land-grant families in the region-a woman, no less-found an ingenious way to publish the history of her region at a time when neither Tejanos nor women had much voice. She told the story from the perspective of an ancient mesquite tree, under whose branches much South Texas history had passed. Tenemos en Aragón como castigo la piedra de yeso: comarcas extensas yacen sobre lechos de esa materia que priva a los habitantes de toda vegetación. Una de las fases en que se presenta la piedra citada es la llamada alabastro, que en otros tiempos fue elemento preciado para la construcción de obras artísticas, como los retablos mayores de El Pilar y La Seo. No alcanzo la razón por qué ha dejado de usarse; teniendo en casa tan abundante producto, se trae de Italia mármol blanco y la piedra de Alicante, que en algunos casos son preferibles, pero en la decoración y construcción de monumentos interiores puede el alabastro competir con ambos. Es de fácil pulimento, transparente, y se encuentra en varios tonos y colores, se labra seis veces antes que el mármol, se arranca con facilidad y puede aserrarse como la madera; el transporte es económico porque se halla en Escatrón, Sástago, Fuentes de Jiloca [...]. The Struggle against Enforced Disappearance and the 2007 United Nations Convention
Enforced disappearance is one of the most serious human rights violations. It constitutes an autonomous offence and a crime under international law on account of its multiple and continuing character. It is not a phenomenon of the past, nor is it geographically limited to Latin America: such scourge is widespread today and on the increase in other continents. For more than twenty-five years, relatives of disappeared people worldwide have insisted on the pressing need for an international legally binding instrument against enforced disappearances. 2006 is the year of the adoption of the International Convention on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearances, which represents the result of several legislative and jurisprudential developments that are duly analyzed in this book. The Convention has been opened for signature in February 2007.
