Los Programas Universitarios Para Mayores en el Proceso de Envejecer
Aprendizaje y Envejecimiento. Este binomio resulta complejo por entender que las personas cuando llegan a una edad determinada ya lo tienen todo aprendido. Obviamente, el Aprendizaje a lo Largo de la Vida nos responde que no es asi. Ademas, el envejecimiento demografico nos senala que las personas mayores llegan a esta etapa de la vida en las mejores condiciones. El Envejecimiento Activo se ha convertido en un marco politico, cultural y social que invita a responder al desafio del aumento de poblacion mayor en Espana, Europa y el Mundo. Desde el campo educativo se ofrecen diversas posibilidades para las personas mayores que inciden directamente en su proceso de envejecer. El ser mayor no determina el aprendizaje, solo condiciona el que y como aprender. En este sentido, las universidades han sabido adaptar sus ensenanzas, disenando Programas Universitarios para Mayores que permiten a sus alumnos aprender a la vez que les abren espacios interactivos desde los que desarrollarse personal, cultural y socialmente.

This publication, which accompanies the exhibition of the same name, curated by Manuel Blanco, brings together the projects made by the artists and researchers in residency at the Spanish Academy in Rome during the year 2015-2016. The works are explained through critical and descriptive essays and shown in more than 160 full-colour images in total. Both the book and the exhibition are the result of a new phase initiated by the Spanish Academy in Rome in the past few years, during which it has become a bustling laboratory of new knowledge and ideas, by encouraging and supporting innovative research and artistic production projects, such as the ones included in this publication. This broad collective exhibition reflects the vitality and vivacity of the art scene in all its complexity, displaying the different creative trends which took hold in the city inside and outside the School of Paris at a time of fervent political debate, held to the backdrop of the new global stage opened by the Cold War. From a broad array of artistic fields, from painting and sculpture to jazz, literature and film, foreign artists dealt with mounting tension by bringing their approaches and hopes to the Parisian milieu in an attempt to connect with the tradition of international modernism but without losing a grip on their own cultural identity.
