Trends in Vocational Education and Training Research
For the first time in many years, VETNET publishes a collection of short papers in an edited book of proceedings, which is available online and as a printed version. VETNET has had a long tradition in making ECER presentations and full papers open to a broader public. So, what's the purpose of having "a real book"? We see it as an opportunity for VETNET to in-crease the visibility of current research in vocational education and training - and as an oppor-tunity for its researchers to talk about planned, ongoing and finalised pieces of work. VETNET lives, if knowledge is shared, discussed and challenged by others. The people involved are ready to cross boundaries in their theoretical and methodological thinking and acting.
Living Like a Girl
In recent decades, large-scale social changes have taken place in Europe. Ranging from neoliberal social policies to globalization and the growth of EU, these changes have significantly affected the conditions in which girls shape their lives. García Alix Photographs
The hundred and fifty or so pictures that make up this retrospective of the work of Alberto Garcia-Alix (Leon, 1956) illustrate one of the most outstanding careers om the past quarter-century of Spanish photography. His artistic experience unfolds in a sort of poetic narration: that of his own private journey into the depths of the night. His ongoing autobiographical endeavour has driven him to document the chronicle of his time through a set of portraits which often include his own. Three different approaches can be discerned in his vast production. The initial period (1975-1982), to which most of his 35mm. work belongs; the eighties, which evidence the mature style of a sophisticated composer of frames; and the recent nineties, which witness a shift towards an increasingly cold, bare and essential perspective. Projects that reflect the multifaceted and heterodox nature of an artist whose oeurve rooted in the most classical tradition of black and white photography.
Wild Pedagogies
This book explores why the concept of wild pedagogy is an essential aspect of education in these times; a re-negotiated education that acknowledges the necessity of listening to voices in a more than human world, and (re)learning how to dwell in a place. As the geological epoch inexorably shifts to the Anthropocene, the authors argue that learning to live in and engage with the world is increasingly crucial in such times of uncertainty. The editors and contributors examine what wild pedagogy can truly become, and how it can be relevant across disciplinary boundaries: offering six touchstones as working tools to help educators forge an onward path. This collaborative work will be of interest to students and scholars of wild pedagogies, alternative education and the Anthropocene, and for all those engaged in re-wilding education.
