Esta obra tem sua origem na dissertação de mestrado Concepções, construção e aplicação de atividades lúdicas por licenciandos da área de ensino de Ciências (2015). O objetivo da pesquisa foi explorar o lúdico como estratégia pedagógica na formação inicial de professores da área de Ciências, buscando dados sobre suas concepções lúdicas e o desenvolvimento de competências. Apresentamos nesta obra a Competência Lúdica, caracterizada por um grupo de quatro competências de referência: Formação, Planejamento, Aplicação e Reflexão. O centro da Competência Lúdica é o conteúdo procedimental, é a prática, a ação, e o jogo ou a atividade lúdica também tem seus auges na prática. Assim, nesses momentos a teoria é fundamental e serve como um meio, e não como um fim. Uma formação lúdica eficiente pode dar conta de modificar algumas crenças, expandindo estas e outras formas de melhorar a qualidade do ensino.
