This publication, on the McNaughton families of the Glengarry County area of Ontario A-D and some of their descendants, is the first volume of a 3 volume set of books with an index in each volume, ( about 1200 pages ) which includes some of the families from Soulanges County in Quebec and some from Stormont County in Ont. I am not sure if I have included all the McNaughton families that settled in the Glengarry area but I hope I have found most of them. In some McNaughton families, the descendants have been found across both Canada and the USA.

Boston's Wayward Children

This study explores the origin and development of the American social welfare system. It demonstrates that the system of orphanages, child-placing agencies, reformatories, juvenile courts, and child guidance clinics established in Victorian Boston was a foundation for the New Deal and remains the basis of contemporary social work with the young.

Fearful Times; Living Faith

Fearful Times; Living Faith

We live in fearful times with many threats and horrors. We've seen a pandemic, systemic racism and violence, resurgent nationalism and tribalism, polarization and mutual suspicion, insurrection, environmental peril due to climate change, and on. We can feel helpless. But these threats give impetus for reflection on what faith has to say in any time of challenge. Where do we turn in real need? What makes a difference? What do we really believe? Can we speak in Christ's name against dishonesty, cruelty, and neglect of the most needy and vulnerable in times of crisis? The recent pandemic and other horrors provide the catalyst for theology that lives today and in the future, in fearful times and whatever comes next. As Christians, as people of faith, how do we find God alive in us and present in our turmoil? And how do we share that hope with others? How can Christian faith help us bring the best out of the worst? Can we rediscover our faith, our church, our lives in these times of crisis? This volume presents a variety of perspectives and answers for questions of fearful times and living faith.

**Book four in the heart-melting Gibson Family series, perfect for fans of Dilly Court, Catherine Cookson and 'Call the Midwife'** Lancashire, 1858. Annie Hallam has at last found complete happiness. She has three healthy babies and adores her husband Frederick. After years of struggling to make a living in the small town of Bilsden, Annie knows she deserves to sit back and enjoy her life - after all, she's not yet forty, and still in her prime. But worries are on the horizon. Frederick has been looking rather pale lately. Her brother Tom hasn't moved on after the death of his wife. Rebecca, her half-sister, is longing for something more than her work in the salon. And William, her son, isn't happy at university. And something much more dangerous is looming - a threat not only to Annie's peace of mind, but to her life . . . ***************** Praise for Anna Jacobs: 'Catherine Cookson fans will cheer!' - Peterborough Evening Telegraph 'Anna Jacobs' books have an impressive grasp of human emotions' - Sunday Times 'Anna Jacobs' books are deservedly popular.
